Is this game still frustrating?

Been gone for a while...

Hey guys. Haven't played Demigod in almost a year. Left due to the massive imbalances of LE/UB/Oak, the huge frustration factor of hosts doctoring game stats, stupid connection and synchronisation issues, ridiculous mechanics of perma-flag-locking, a few bugs, and the ever-loving devs who left the game in the hands of Stardock about a month after release.

Is there any reason for me to install it again? Or should I just stick to League of Legends?

Hmmm... Well, Pacov will probably answer you shortly in much greater detail. Perma-flag-locking no more possible with current patch. The only significant imbalance, as far as I'm concerned, is 15+ level UB on Catarct, when well-played.

I don't think DG should be compared to LoL. Seriously, DG's failures are purely technical. LoL is nearly impeccable technically, very convenient and user-friendly... But a dumb version of DotA is not my idea of a good game :) Anyway, it's a matter of taste, really.

Hey reg,

You'll still probably find some of the same things to complain about if they bother you, to be fair.  The real trick is trying to get into games with similar folks on a regular basis where you know connection issues really aren't a problem, etc.  I still love dg and continue to play with minimal frustration.

The community has become small enough that some things have worked themselves out on there own.

For instance, a tactic was developed while you were gone where a Minion Oak would send his spirits straight at the citadel after killing the towers that lead up to it.  The strategy is cheesy but fortunately you don't see it anymore, possibly because if an Oak on my team started doing it I would quit on them and maybe a lot of other people feel the same way... or maybe the stat whores have gone on to find other games to exploit/grief/cheat on... who knows.

Also, as far as the overpowered Demigod combos, the bad news is that they are still overpowered.  The good news is that out of the players that are still around, a lot of them gravitate towards weaker Demigods to balance things out and have a fun game.  The last game I played with Orcun (one of the best players to ever play this game), he had good players on his team so they attempted to beat my team playing as a Reg with a TB on his team which is not an ideal combo, just to make it sporting.

And, as the Elemental debacle continues, Frogboy no longer visits these forums to explain how Gas Powered Games did such an awesome job supporting and balancing this game... so thats a relief.  Plus, we don't really get our hopes up anymore that the next patch is going to fix anything significant since there won't be one.

Its a funny thing... Demigod is actually a very fun game if you don't concentrate on how amazing it could have been with decent support or have people getting your hopes up that it will fulfill its potential someday.
