Windowblinds and Windows File System Error 65535

I bought windowblinds 7 today, using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and ever since then whilst using it I cannot open any programs. i get windows file system error 65535.

I went through all the solutions available online, scanned windows for corrupted files etc, nothing comes back wrong. Then a little lightbulb went on above my head. I tried shutting off windowblinds and presto, I can open programs and files again.

Needless to say I'm not happy because I just cannot get windowblinds to work without this fatal error occurring.

Is there any way I can get a refund if this thing still refuses to work?

1. Open a ticket with support@stardock.com and include your system information and the url of this thread..

2. Wait patiently. If you keep emailing, you move the original to the back to the end of the queue.

3. Don't take any further action re: install/uninstall until you hear from them.

4. Don't rush to refunds... I want you to enjoy Windowblinds if at all possible. Also ... Welcome! :)

I'm running Windows 7 Home 64 bit and WindowBlinds 7 with no problems.  It maybe that your download of WindowBlinds is messed up.  Uninstall it using Impulse, run a clean up program like CCleaner and then reboot and reinstall WindowBlinds through Impulse.  As some A/V software has shown to screw up downloading WindowBlinds I would turn yours off before doing the reinstall and then turn on back afterwards.  Worth a try.  :sun:

This is a Windows File System error.  Try booting into safe mode and from a command prompt type sfc /scannow. This procedure should fix any system files that are corrupt.

You could also try the procedure here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

I'm saving these for when I get WB 7. Just in case. Thanks

My guess is that you've used some other program which patches a dll file to run non-MS Visual Styles on your system. That patched system file is causing the error.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I will open a support ticket.

As for the sfc/scannow I had already done that. No corrupt system files - ran a check on both hard disks and no errors returned.

The only thing that I know for sure is - windowblinds on = file system errors. Windowblinds off = all back to hunky-dorey. As for the patching of files to run other visual styles - that's another negatory.

Seems all very strange to me, never seen anything like it in either previous WB versions or throughout my 15 years of home computing. Anyway, I'll pass on the info to Stardock and I'll make known the outcome.

Cheers and Thanks :)

It sounds like one of the dlls that WB links to is corrupt and so the OS displays an error during loading.

Did you try uninstalling WB, rebooting and then reinstalling WB?
