Mods Prior to 1.08b Causing Issues, Be on the look-out.

Some thing to take note of.

So I noticed today I was having some issues and was getting ready to make a bug report but I did a little digging and found out this was a problem on my end and not something the new patch did. I noticed almost none of my spells were doing any damage so I started making a list. All of starting spells, Lightning, Ice Stab, Flame Dart, had no damage value, but Hurl Bolder did. All of the spells with no damage value assigned would "Miss" and not hit and of course doing no damage. I had seen Frogboy mention that he tweaked spell damage and stuff and thought maybe there was a bug somewhere causing the issue. Before I made my bug report though I decided to double check, so first I took the spell mods I had downloaded out by removing the XMLS from Icecrown's (Very Excellent) spell effects. No change, none of the spells had any damage values. Then I remembered the "Use Mods" button and turned it off and restarted the game. I started a new test game and low and behold the damage values were back and the spells were working fine again. Then I re-enabled the Use Mods button, but kept the XML's out, the spells still have the right damage and all is well.

As the spells mod was working fine before the patch I can only assume something in the patch changed the way mods are read or used or something. I noticed the same with my Undead Rising 2.0 Mod. Now for some reason when I put in the item files that give the Undead race access to clothes and hair and all that good stuff in the Sov Creator, the other races (Men, Kraxis, a few others) that are supposed to have those same clothing and hair options now don't have those options anymore. I'm going through the XML's now to see if I can find what was changed and what my XML's and now doing wrong to cause the error. It's also possible I may just have to re-enable Mods again and re-add them to fix the error (testing that now too).

I just wanted to let some other people know what had happened in case it may have happened to them too and to see if anyone else had noticed any errors in their Mods since the latest patch or if it was just something I had done and was local to my system. So, be on the look-out everyone. Double check stuff before making a error report because just like me, maybe something you think might be an error in the game could turn out to be an error on your end and not the game's fault at all.

Also a heads up, once I get this clothing issue fixed I've finished a lot of new tiles for the Undead Necropolis and all I'll need to do is add them and a few other bug fixes to Undead Rising and the new update (Undead Rising 2.5) should be up in a couple days time, perhaps even by Sunday Night or Early Monday morning.

Keep on rockin everyone and happy modding!!!

The only thing I did was add that mod that gives me more clothing and item options for characters, anyone had any crashes due to this? I am getting a ton of crashes. But I can't see how the files I dropped in for items could hurt anything.....

Just as thought about your clothing issue, its possible it's an issue caused by the newly created SP/MP xml folder divide. Try putting your modded clothing files directly in to the ONLY-SP folder, as for some reason pre-made\core units seem to only read the xml files in there.

They changed how spell damage is done in 1.08. Open up one of the CoreSpells xmls. It's a quite a bit different than it used to be. I had to modify a bunch of my files to work.

Stardock should really post and sticky a note about updates and mods for old versions not working together, and save games from old versions not being fixable by updates as well, that would help a lot of Elemental fans hanging in there with frustration over seeing fixes in changelogs that don't seem to work.

Looks like spells require the "MinValue" and "MaxValue" rather than just "Value" on calculates
