Moral System is terrible

Is moral just a way for the computer to cheat?  Why do I go into a fight in which my army strength is 300 and theirs is 150, only to have my side stand there due to low moral (starting at 10) and not get an action for the first 7-8 rounds??

Evidently there was a reason WHY your unit's morale was low. Seeing as I don't have the game, all I can tell is that you were doing something wrong.

There is an sovereign perk that reduces your morale.

I think we're beginning to take the forum's permissiveness too far.   The reviews Elemental is getting are C's--not F's.  The forums is allowing negative feedback and criticism, but this is starting to devolve into a slamfest.   We shouldn't be abusing Stardock's grace on their own board.

In actuality he's right though, the morale system is pretty terrible, not because of what he was saying though.

Example: I go into a battle, I have a CR of 55, the enemy has a CR of 64. The battle starts, I'm losing 5 morale per turn because the enemy is more powerful. Three rounds into it, I've done some fancy maneuvering and wiped out half of their force and taken only one or two (or even zero losses).....

....I'm still losing 5 morale per turn.

What? Why? Well, two reasons.

1. I'm not gaining morale for dropping foes that are more powerful. Why not? That Ogre that was in there that ran up and decimated one of my units in one shot got hit by a spell from my champion and shrugged it off, then got dropped by a lucky crit from my Archers. That should have caused a major morale boost as we took down the "big baddy" that everyone was scared of.

2. The CRs of the forces are not changing even though creatures are dying. At the point when I was down to 1 enemy unit and still all of mine (save for the one I lost) I had a CR of 55, and the enemy had a CR of 64. This caused me to continue to lose 5 morale a turn, regardless of the fact that there was only an enemy peasant left.

The Morale system is currently terrible. It needs a lot of work. It has the potential to be something really awesome though, and it could make for a major tug-of-war of Morale between your forces and the enemies' as various units drop or miss or get lucky hits or so on.

Yeah CR seems to only be affected by about 20% when you kill the entire other army.

As far as "slamfest", I am pretty sure they prefer to hear about screwed up parts of the game.  It is part of making it better.  No one said the game was bad or anything of that sort, I was pointing out a specific problem with game mechanics.  If 1 sovereign trait can cause a free win battle to become an auto loss dues to missing 100% of your turns, something needs to be done.

End of tetleytea's quote

Few people say the game in completly terrible.  There are a few reports that some people can not play.  Most people are generally Oppunistic, few are over joyed.  I like the color blue.  Some dont.  To each his or her own.  If you call this game finish that is you.  If others call it a paid beta, thats them.  If I say its a good game that needs polishing thats me.  We all have opinions.
