Diplomacy 1.00 small AI bugs

Just a few minor issues my friend and I noticed during a game:

-AI players send envoy ships to enemy planets in locked team games.

-Advent AI still makes homing mines on most of their carriers.

-Numerous Visari autocast abilities get used without checking if they're actually needed.  ie Kortul weapon jam, the new envoy Nanomedice Outreach, Power Draining Nanities, etc.

-Pirate seige ships, which I presume are their anti-starbase ships now with their long range attack, don't actively engage the starbase.  Their priority is to attack the planet.  I would strongly suggest making something else the anti-starbase ship.

-Already been addressed in many other threads of course, but pirates rapdily get out of hand once players start giving them missions on top of the normal raids.  Ends stalemates really fast though!

-Not a bug, but the TEC tech Insurgency is even more a joke now with new buffed pirate raiders.  It was already bad in Entrenchment due to the rebels not getting any upgrades, but now they look even more pathetic.  Would it be possible to include them on the pirate upgrade system or something?  It's a level 8 tech with two levels to research; it needs way more punch than it currently has.

-Pirates will not leave a sector after a mission if there are still mines remaining.  Since they can't kill the mines, they will stay there forever instead of returning to base.

I see this behavior as well for Advent's starbase ability Mass Disorientation.  In Entrenchment, it will only cast when there are units within range.  In Diplomacy, it will constantly cast it as soon as cooldown expires.

I also see this behavior on the Nano Weapons Jammer, in addition to the Jam Weapons on the Kortul, and the Advent Starbase as mentioned above.

This was a nasty bug that hit several Vasari abilities (and a few from other races) in Entrenchment, that was fairly recently fixed... I'm presuming the code just wasn't carried over? Because this bug is firmly eradicated in Entrenchment.

Edit: And for the love of God, can we please get auto cast set to off when the Kostura is finished completing? I hate that 99% of the time my first shot is totally wasted because I wasn't devoting my attention to it's construction bar. This happens in Vanilla, Entrenchment, and Diplomacy :-P

Yeah, this one is so annoying when you see your ally attacking a starbase with 10 carriers (until there, sounds good)... full of homing mines... It is funny the first time, very boring and frustrating after...

Yeah, forgot to add the superweapon autocast thing.  My friend who was playing Visari didn't know what the hell was going on as his superweapons fired at random, only to notice autocast was turned on.  Why would anyone want this thing on autocast for any reason?!

AI doesn't send Envoys to allies in locked team games, so you never get pacts from them. Or at least, not within the first two hours.

Odd, level 6 cap ship abilities don't start on autocast but the AI supposedly uses them now.  If this is the only way they could get the AI to use superweapons, then I guess I can live with it though.

AI with peace treaty or cease fire still tries to attack your planets. Obviously it can't do anything, but it keeps its fleet there and sends you a hostile message.

I've played some reeeeeeeally long (7-8 hours) games already in diplomacy (I had 4 days off...heh...), and I have yet to see any AI on Hard Difficulty build a super weapon.

Honestly, I have also yet to see them use their ultimate abilities on cap ships and star bases. I was fighting three level 10 Marza's with full antimatter when the battle started, and not a single one used their missile barrage ability. Not a single one.

I call bullshit on the AI using ultimate abilities, I remember seeing something in the patch notes about them supposed to be using them now... but it's a lie. Nor do they use super weapons. Not on Hard Difficulty, at any rate.

Please, before hosting your requirements for changes, use some common sense. how do you think pacts work? you need a rating of 11.5 and above for ALL PACTS! having locked teams only gets you a rating of 10.00, but to get pacts you need a rating of 11.5 and above. So AI's still need to send envoys for them to pact with you and others.

 

add to your list the Vsari Carrier Cap Ships (Skintra) when the scramble bomb ability is casted in the Ion Storm, theystill spam bombers, even when it aint supposed too.

Hmm ultimate abilities.  I know I've never seen AI use their ultimate weapon before.  Ever.  As much as I can I don't use it myself either actually.  There is just no good counter to it.

But the cap's ultimate abilities, I know I have seen them used by the AI in Entrenchment.  I don't think I saw them being used in Diplomacy though.  Odd that some of the squashed bugs in Entrenchment came back up in diplomacy.

I've noticed this too. It's a major pain to have to babysit my gravity wells to cast this manually every time a wave of pirates or other enemies shows up. There have been a few patches since I first noticed this, and it hasn't been fixed yet.

AI using ultimates works in Entrenchment, eh? Guess I'll go load that one up til they get Diplomacy patched then.

As near as I can tell, most if not all the bugs the patch just before Diplomacy launch fixed in Entrenchment are still alive and kicking in Diplomacy.

Reduced my stars at impuls carefully to two as warning for others to wait with buying, until this things are fixed so this became playable.

Because of the unbelievable pirates (which should be tuneable, otherwise the game is not playable), the content changed for me, only to bet on this guys to get them attacked the AI-player, nothing is left to enjoy me this part of the game... So hopefully waiting on, as the hope dies at last.

When I send envoys to enemy planets - they get shot down.

Cease-Fire or Peace-Agreement respecting opponents though? It's all good.

Please actually play the game before making a fool of yourself.  Sending envoys to enemy planets builds relationship WITH THAT PLAYER.  Unless they want to offer their enemies pacts, this isn't really a good idea.

you can make pacts with allied members. but you need at least a rating above 11.5 to give pacts between you and your allies, EVEN IN LOCKED TEAMS!

by the way I apologise, I mixed up this post with another post similar to this question. I was talking about some guy said why does his allies spam envoy ships to his allies when playing with lock teams.

and yes, spamming envoys to enenmy planets is retarded, maybe its becuase the AI no longer spam scouts to rush there enemies? Since the scout nerf, maybe the AI has finally clcoked onto something? envoy spam rush? hmmmmmmm.................Might try it.
