I knew this thread was going to be fun the moment I read the title.
Good, stay out of my thread. I don't need people standing upon ignorant assumptions to ruin intellectual discussion.
Based on your thread title alone, I feel it's a fair assumption that our definitions of 'intellectual discussion' differ greatly. You are aware, of course, that GPG collects data from the games played for use in balancing as well as the forum feedback? Based on their internal numbers, combined with the experiences their player base is reporting, they've clearly decided that Bite was operating outside of it's intended figures and as such have re-balanced it's attributes to bring the numbers into check. If you knew anything about game balance you'd realise the idea of balance is to remove the "best" characters and ensure all characters are viable play options.
This is assuming the other team doesn't have crowd control like Rook/TB, or other generals like oak with minions to counter? Nope! Bite is OP because we tunnel vision and don't look at other possible factors.
Incorrect. When balancing a game the developers do not assume that any one other factor is in place, as this will eventually lead to the creation or development of situational Demigods; Demigods that only really excel when a certain criteria has been met, such as the presence of another Demigod. For a real world example of this, please refer to DotA, which based several items and Heroes around situations; several of these are now the least selected items and Heroes in the game.
This is assuming he has infinite mana, and you say warp like it's a significant amount of distance, considering its no where near getting out of range for roll/snipe/sometimes fireball. You also neglect that moving OUT of combat, requires mana.
Actually you've identified an incorrect assumption; the assumption is that he has taken Bat Swarm - no Demigod has infinite mana and thus this assumption will never be made. Experienced players entering a difficult fight always leave a little 'something extra' to get out of the battle should it not go in their favour; an escape plan. In Erebus' case it's enough mana for a Bat Swarm out, or even possibly a stun. The idea of the Bat Swarm wasn't to provide an absolute escape – that would be Teleport’s job - the ability’s purpose is either increase distance while dealing damage, or decrease distance while dealing damage and as such mentioning that it doesn't place you outside of Snipes range, for example, is pointless.
If you go back to base to get more, or pot up, you lose several things: 1) Gold. If you arent killing creeps, you lose gold. If you're not judging battles properly and require mana pots, it's more gold. 2) EXP. Most importantly. If you're going back for mana to keep playing like this, or offsetting it by spending gold on pots, you're going to lose EXP and thus they will LEVEL FASTER. COMMON SENSE MUCH?
This is true for all players and all Demigods and thus is negated in a thread discussion revolving around an Erebus' nerf.
The developers ARE retarded, and take every word seriously that you say, and you dont know what you're talking about. The retardation of GPG correlates directly to you yourself, whining.
Your absolute lack of understanding and apparently low opinion for the staff at GPG is enough of a reply in itself, however I'm a firm believer of going the extra mile and so I'd like to point out that GPG are responsible for hard coding an entire game from scratch that has received critical acclaim, has a dedicated user base of pleased fans and dwarfed all previous RTS Games previously with Supreme Commander. I don't pretend to understand the habits of the mentally ill, however I'm sure that they don't spend their days programming games.
That also doesn't stop the enemy from stacking the same amount of HP/Armor, and having better stats in the end. You also neglect the fact that a demigod isn't in front of a lane 24/7. We call this micro-management. Smart players out-level and out-farm others. Out-farming/Out-leveling leads to an even bigger stats gap. Erebus doesn't hold his own well against certain demigods, so you give him too much room to just BUY items like he is free to do so without the other team to shut him out. ASSUME ASSUME ASSUME
Again, attempting to discus balance while making assumptions, like an enemy is going to stack identical items, is a pointless discussion and negates anything terribly meaningful you might have actually said. The purpose of the items was to provide enough room for a player to decide how they want their Demigod to perform, and this was taken into consideration when balancing the items. For example, Unclean Beast stacking nothing by +DPS items becomes almost unstoppable in Melee combat, however this was clearly the intended purpose of the character. Lord Erebus was clearly not meant to be able to
significantly cripple an enemy while healing himself and doing
significant damage. This was brought into check.
Low levels when staying in lanes is really important, I can shrug off 300-600 damage with 300 extra melee damage to regen it, because Erebus can't tank towers in combination with a demigod hitting you, let alone two, or three, or five. Trust me, the damage is pretty negligible.
What Demigod can single handly Tank a Tower and another Demigod comfortably to warrant such a statement?
...Okay. I'm assuming your a pantheon pug and haven't fought a good QoT, let alone a QoT that fights with a team, and isn't 3v1. See, right there. You assumed skill wasn't a factor, and that the other team is made up of retarded children. 1350 shield...is a-LOT of damage mitigated. QoT has a LOT of nuke damage combined with minions. a-LOT more survivability than an erebus can dream of. How the fuck can you compare? Fuck you're dumb.
I'd like to address your apparent lack of respect for the other forum members. Being unhappy with negative changes to the character you play is acceptable; I also play as Erebus primarily and feel that he was over nerfed, however I absolutely agree with the fact that he needed a nerf to Bite. However, insulting them, the developers, and clearly contradicting yourself throughout your rather obviously game-loss inspired rant is bordering on entirely
unacceptable behaviour. Your on a forum for a game for pity’s sake;
calm down.
ESL matches, clan matches, organized team matches. I'm sorry sir, pantheon is not an appropriate outlet to base balance off of. Even developers (before they went retarded) are implementing a clan pantheon that does not split demigods by side.
Being as Clan matches have yet to be implemented and wide spread organised team battles are a ways off yet, thanks in no small part to the connection troubles, where else do you expect them to get their data from?
Okay, define proven facts. What is a proven fact? It can't be an opinion, can it? No, of course not. Of COURSE im not allowed to argue opinions of what is OP, with another opinion. They have to be conclusive FACTS.
Over-reactions hurt your argument, and having no information besides wild speculation and insults doesn't help it. This entire thread was created due to your
opinion - and everyone knew what that was before the page had finished loading.
I've given many constructive posts, and they're neglected. I'm not sugar-coating this message anymore. What GPG did is straight up retarded, and the way whining newbies are fueling this is equally so. Can you describe it better, or do you differ in opinion? Prove your opinion is a fact for me, sir.
As I've mentioned above, GPG have created a fairly complicated piece of code, which is direct contravention to your statement that they mentally retarded. This is fact. Being as your the one putting forth this argument, the burden of proof is at your feet; show me the official statement that the nerf to Erebus was entirely based on their feedback from the forums. Do you think they just pull those adjustments out of air?
You just got thoroughly owned. Brand me what you want, it doesn't make you correct, nor does it make my arguments irrelevent. Idiot.
No one here needs to brand you anything, you’ve branded yourself with your own words. I feel I need to say nothing besides advising that you think next time you decide to make this kind of thread in the future.
