What's the best photo hosting site?

Looking for opinions and alternatives

Over the years I've used Imageshack and Photobucket......

I was completely happy with Imageshack and then they changed their format/service about 2-3 years ago so I moved to Photobucket.

I like Photobucket but I recently went over my bandwidth maximum and won't have access until June 4th.......unless I pay them $40 for a year.....I didn't even know they had a bandwidth maximum......and how come I went over so early in the month but have never gone over before........I smell a rat. So before I pony up money to a service that already has production rights to the pics I give them, I want to know what everyone else uses/recommends.

I've heard they're all pretty good....imageshack, photobucket...and imagecave...they're free so give each one a shot, or compatmentalize each site for an individual usage... ;) :sun:

I don't know Doc......I went thru my entire 25gb of bandwidth in less than a week. There's also a pic size limit of 1024x768 which has to be new since many of my already uploaded screenshots are 3200x1200. If I'm gonna have to pay.....I want to get the best deal I can.

The free version of Imagecave "Free accounts get enough storage for hundreds of images, and 1GB/month of data transfer!" that's only 1/25 of the free Imagebucket account which is  1gb of storage & 25 gb/month of data transfer......so they're not all the same.

Imageshack looks like a better option than it usd to "ImageShack allows unlimited bandwidth for videos and slideshows, and allows each hotlinked image 300 megabytes of transfer per hour. If a hotlinked image exceeds this amount, it will become inaccessible, and you would need to send us an email in order to have it enabled again." with no storage limits.

Still looking for input.....

I guess it depends on ones need.  For myself, I only use it for images I use in posts, etc..  I don't and won't store my photos online.  They go to an external HDD.

Lantec...sorry I didn't see the responses...I've been removing and reinstalling all my SD apps. Fun.

Thanks for the info...and for you that really looks right. I'm more in Ed's league...some PSP's, and stuff from posts. I do see that expanding, though. Might just add ImageShack...unless and until you Mods finally get sick of my grumpy butt and send me to Siberia first.

Sorry guys...my head's been located up near my splenic flexure recently...I seem to have misplaced my sense of humor. :(

Ed...gimme a smack upside my head and straighten me out.

Far as I know they keep the uploads until YOU remove them.

Tinypic looks interesting Brickhead.......only drawback I see is the 1600 pixel (width or height) limit

Same here Doc.  I never thought my health would ever adversely affect my sense of humor but it has.  Better for me to stay away than to rain on other peoples days.

Yeh, must be that great age difference you have on me there Lantec.:D

I looked at flickr......read the Yahoo TOS.......don't know why but the Yahoo TOS always scares the hell out of me.

Still, I might give them a try. They don't seem to have a usage bandwidth limit just an upload bandwidth limit. Besides, everybody else is selling my browsing habits to advertisers anyway.

I use Google and Picasa to store photos online. It's really handy to create albums for work that I need to share with certain colleagues because I can give their email addresses permission to view the pix and the pix can't be viewed by anyone else.

For temporary hosting that I just use for a one-off forum post, I tend to just go with whatever comes up in a Google search first.

The best has always been the best for many reasons...

It's Photoshop Express here at this link Photoshop Express

You can do most anything with this site and it is mainly geared for the pros not the cons in use of photos. Lots of people using the free sites use it for posting to other sites and such. But this is more for giving the real photos a true place to live at. Sure it is limited for free users. But you get what you pay for in the long run; if that is what you need. Myself I use it and pay for it... thus my photos are safe and I can always get to my site while out on the road with anything; to include my cell phone and upload a photo and then fix it with photoshop online and then send it on to whom I please. Plus add it to my gallery to where I have it for later.

I love this site!
