Twilight of arnor not working on Windows 7

I installed dread lords, Dark avatar and twilight of the arnor through impulse and i cant play them on windows 7 64 bit. The game loads fine but when i get to the race selection screen and select a race the computer locks up. Is anyone else having this problem? all 3 of the games worked fine on windows xp 32 bit.

For me DL works ok on Win7 64bit but the other two freeze/crash upon trying to load a map. It is an early beta OS and as yet not supported. So while not getting any official support maybe someone has a solution and come by and share it with us :) .

Judging W7-64 performance based on XP-32 IS a bit ... well ... optimistic. :P

Best bet would be to send debug logs etc. to Stardock so they can start working on full compatibility.

I was unable to run it on Windows 7 x64 as well. I could get through setting the game up but when it went to load the map it would hang.  Anyway, I did a Windows Update and it had an Nvidia Prerelease driver available. After letting windows update install that the game will run.

Good luck!

THanks for the replies but it still doesnt work. I once got it to play the game as the thalians but soon after starting it crashed. and it seems that windows 7 cant shut it down once it crashes.

I also sent the debug.err file to stardock and they said that since windows 7 is a beta they are not going to upgrade their games to work on it until it comes out.

I find it strange that I have games that came out before vista but they still work on windows 7 but Sins of a solar empire and Gal Civ 2 Twilight both don't work. Sins just gets lots of minidumps. Why are stardock games so incompatible with new operating systems?

It's not Stardock games, but rather windows.   :jafo:    This is what happens when you steal an operating system  :ninja:     and THEN try to put your own OS on the market!

An update, since I haven't seen any further posts on this. I have gotten both DA and TA to work on Win7 64bit by using the Nvidia Gfx drivers for Vista 64. Haven't had a chance to test deep into a game yet, but all seems well on both expansions after running through a few turns on each.
