No governments or Advanced Troop Mods for Yor!?

Oi vei, I read a post someone made about the Yor so I tried them (just bought TotA a couple days ago) only to find ... the Yor can't research governments (no Interstellar Republic, Democracy, Federation) and also doesn't have Advanced Troop Mods in its tech trees!?  WTF!  Aren't those kinda critical!?

They make up for not having government techs by having +45% economic bonuses from their economy tree (DA economy tree is 15% whereas governments are 10%/20%/30% when active), although they still rely on tech trading to get a spammable economic building.

What this means to you is that you don't have to keep approval as high.  ;)

Incidentally, they're also missing Core Detonation and Tidal Disruption.

If you want to see a race that's missing something, try the Arceans.  No engines outside of hyperdrive, and in what seems like a bug, they get Majesty, but not Total Majesty (so no Spin Control Center).

There are holes in every tree...with the exception of the Terran tree, really, which doesn't so much have holes as not get the unique benefits that the other trees do.  (Note: I've complained about this, but it hasn't done any good.  I am however becoming more partial to the Torian tree, for whatever that's worth.)

Is there a good summary of what each race has or lacks somewhere on the web?

Apart from TA 101 and this companion thread (work in progress), your best bets are Galactopedia or the tech tree posters done by I-Mod.

I don't know a good single URL to answer your question, but if you're running Vista or are otherwise willing to install and run .NET,  Galactopedia might meet your need. It's a simple Windows app that helps you root around in the XML files that underly the tech trees their associated lists of object types.

(edit) Or what Sole Soul said in the middle of a more useful post.
