Mines!!! the terible unbalanced truth

Seriosely unballanced in game

There is no real way to get rid of mines. its that simple. Scouts can see them but when they do the mines flash in an out of phase so even if you have a ship that can destroy them nearby 70% of its shots hit an invunurable mine. Now this is already a bad thing if mines were few and far between but it could be worked around because they would do good dammage but wouldnt be a fleet ender cause they would be slightly rare. They are not few and far between, especialy if you play against AI who spam them to the point that it slows the game down (another downside). I have frequently jumped into gravity wells and not be able to see the well because there is not an inch of it not covered in mines because there almost no limit to how many you can have in a gravity well. One of two things need to happen to make these not a 1. game ender and 2 sorce of minidumps because even my tricked out comp cant handle That many mines. No matter what they need a numerical limit per gravity well. So the choice is leave the limmit high but give us an effective way to mine sweep (this will not ruin thier value because if there is an enemy fleet or staic deffence guarding the mine field it will still make it extreemly hard to sweep for them leaving the deffensabliity power they bring) or put in a strict limmit per grav well but make them very hard to get rid of. as is it is not acceptable and NEEDS to be corrected. Im very happy with starbases though they need some bug fixes and perhaps a little more wepons power and the static deffence upgrade work phenominaly. But you need to fix mines. Bar none.

On the other side, laying mines where you want them needs to be easier for vas and advent. My sugestion would be that you have the mine layer lay a minfield in a location and thos mines are maintained in that area as long as the mine layer is assined to it. If you move the minlayer away and the mines will start to break down and destroy themselve after a certain amount of time. For the tec just have a limmit to how many can be maintaind by the planet at one time, and have the fade after a certain amount of time of that planet is bombed into the stone age or changes hands. you may have to change the way the advent mine drones work to do this, but from what i can see they dont realy work as it is. this would go a long way to fixing the problem above and take the omnipitant control everything at once advantage AI's have over theier human opponants. they can lay mines everywhere and manage 2 fleets. Im sory but i cant.

Agree this should be in the beta thread, but I oncur, I have come to DETEST mones, and yes once you get to later games, and the AI fills every gravity well with mines, then games get unbearably slow.

Mines are super lame. On every skirmish map you play the AI fills the maps with em, like several hundred everywhere you go. This fucks up even strong machines. SO in any case whether you like mines or not they cant stay because they make you lagg like hell. At the very least they need to make a choise of whether you want to play with mines or without when you play, so people without CIA-supercomputers can get a lagg free game. I cant have a fun skirmish game in sins anymore because i know that sooner or later im going to run into the "maps filled with hunnnndrrreeeds of mines" that realy fucks up my gaming pleasure(and the pc dislikes them immensly aswell)

So please fix these stupid mines, they are wrecking sins for me!

Malanthor, are you saying the mines are hard on your computer?

i really don't think we'll see mines like this in the final version of entrenchment.

Never heard of Walls in space ? lol.

I'm refering to an earth version of walls in games like AOE, Empire Earth etc.

Maybe have a set of options, so people play at different pace.

Like, How many mines (and starbases) can a race build (including unlimited option like now), enable and disable for both options, etc etc?
