Fleet sizes

And how exactly does logistics work?

So just how big *are* fleets in Sins, anyway? I understand they're now limited by the level of logistics you've researched, but I'm still unclear as to how big/small they actually are.

Also, are logistics and ships based on a pure point system (e.g., Logistics tech level 1 grants you 20 points, Logistics 2 grants you 40, etc.)? Or do players have a certain number of ship slots they can fill (e.g., 4 capital ships, 8 frigates, and 12 fighter/bomber squadrons)? How exactly does it work?

It's hard to say how big fleets are in the game because each ship costs x logistics points. So depending on how your fleet is composed, it could be very big or not. Without researching all the way up the fleet tree, you can generally put together fleets of dozens or even hundreds of ships.

We don't really know any facts about how logistics upgrades fleet points yet (aside from knowing that's how it is done).

But we saw in a number of recent screenshots a fleet point cap at 2000. Whether or not this is fully researched is anyone's guess, but the evenness of the number makes it seem like some kind of milestone.

I am sure someone in the beta can give you more accurate info, but (I think) ships take between 2 and 40 fleet points each (from scout up to capital ship). Since all fighters/bombers are spawned by other ships I am unsure if they take any fleet points at all.

O yeah, and cap ships take specific cap ship crew points (in addition to fleet points). These crews have to be researched individually last we heard (every time you research another crew for a cap ship you can make one more cap ship). Dunno how high the tree for this goes either, but the system makes it sound like there is a limit to the total number of cap ships you can have. The screenshots that had 2000 fleet points had what looked like 16 cap ship crews avaiable, so it would seem we can have at least 16 cap ships at a time (again who knows if this is fully researched or not, but keep in mind there are 8 tiers of research in the other branches so assuming logictics follows that patters it might be +2 crews per research level).

Lots of speculation on all this though, I could be totally wrong on everything.
