I wish that when i press

1 (selecting group 1)
then holding SHIFT
2

The Effect was not that I now select group 2 and not 1, but that I now command Both Groups but neither are changed in terms of group bindings.

Eh, I like being able to shift-add units... I agree, though, that both systems have their merits.

the current system doesnt allow me to select 2 different groups using function Keys.... I have to either select them all manually and make a new group, or select one group and try to alt band box the rest or some such.

Press "button" to set all ships except fighters and bombers to hold position -oh how i would love to have that.

That would a very useful function p5yy. Another one I would like to see is being able to select everything other than fighters and construction frigs. Or to bandbox everything but fighters and cfs.

I agree and had a little mini rant about this in the micro annoyances thread. Also suggested a possible solution to the "select everything but fighters and construction frigs" issue.
