Sry.., but it's urgent..!

i need your help again guys....., i recently buy the new video card Ati Radeon X1650pro 512MB(AGP), for my pc(a Intel D865PERL), i try to use it but damn! i cant make it work.., when i reboot my pc it only show the Intel logo but the screen turns black and nothing happens., no system, no HD running.., no nothing............

 

i try to reset BIOS by the two ways i know, the fisic and thrue the same BIOS..., i try to take off little battery and nothing.., i also try to change the jumper to make a complete reset but.., NOTHING!!!!!!!!

 

what is wrong? i read the tech info about the motherboard and the video card and there is no compavility problem..........................

 

please help

I can only think of things that you have probably tried. I am not a tech person but (A) Put back in the old card to verify that the slot didn't take a "hit". (B) Try the new card in another computer to verify that the card is good. (C) Verify that the card will work with your motherboard. (D) Make sure that in swapping out the cards that you didn't cause something to come loose.

Could this be a power supply problem?

did you plug the card in to the Power supply? many new V cards need a power feed from the PC's power supply, typically its the same type of plug that powers the HDD and CD roms. a few take the plug type like the floppy's use...

This could be any number of things, but the bios isn't one of them.

If you're getting the logo screen, count the beeps and look in the manual for the beep code. My guess is that your MBR is borked in which case do a repair or format and re-install.

in this image the plug is at the top right corner. its white, a floppy style plug from the PC's power supply needs to be pluged in here to power up the card.. without power the card cant run and will give a black screen...

i already try what you say, the AGP slot is ok, it worked with the old video card. i dont have another pc to try this video card.

..? i can only hear one single beep.., and sorry but i dont the manual of my motherboard. and what do you mean with MBR? it's the motherboard? if that is tha case then i dont know how to repair it eather format it....

..sry i dont know that kind of terms

btw.., i uninstall the driver of the old video card in case that was the problem.., as ATI faq says, if i dont uninstall the old driver then i would have the problems that i'm having........., even though i still have them

you may have gotten a bad card... i went through 2 cards a from ATI before i got one the worked...try reinstalling the old card and if it works, then IMO its the ATI card not the PC.

Tycus....'MBR' that yrag refers to is 'Master Boot Record'...a section of your OS harddrive that, if damaged/missing will cause your computer to fail to boot.

1 beep is the normal 'post' so that is fine...

I'm gonna say that the video card doesn't work with the mother board. If the old cad works fine once you put it back in, but the new card doesn't, then it is very possible that the motherboard might night work with the card.

You card could be shot too... but you would need to check the card by putting it in another computer to see if the card works.

Find out what mother board you have and what cards it can take.

also an obvious fix... is the power supply strong enough to run the card ? my ATI recommended a 400 watt power supply to run it and my drives/fans with ease.Check the minimum requirements for power needs... if the power supply is strong enough, then i would try the old card again to see if it works ,if it does then take the ATI back and exchange it for another, as it may be defective. if that one dont work take the PC in to the shop and have them install the card.

i guess 480W are inough.., but let me check it...., i have 5 normal size fans + a cooler on the Pentium 4HT maybe if i disconect two fans would make the trick..

also are you using the adapter they provided? I recommend using the matching/ corresponding plug end coming straight out of the power supply... their adapters have a tendency of not working ..


heres the cards requirements...your Power supply should be enough...

System Requirements

* AGP based PC is required with one 8X lane graphics slot available on the motherboard
