Definitely different -- I'm needing +80 from morale buildings with a +56 built up morale resource to maintain 100% morale up to around 17B pop with a 79% tax rate.

With Update 1.2 don't think I ever need morale buildings except for the +10 morale from stock markets and not sure that even mattered.

But from Frogboy's posts, it's gonna get worse. He doesn't like us being able to have 100% morale with a 79% tax rate.

Actually, I agree with Frogboy, way too easy before. But I'm gonna miss it being easy!!!!

i thought it was somewhat realistic. I mean take into account some scandanavian countries. There tax rate is close to 60-70%. They get free housing, education, medical, and alot more. Well if i were to tax 80% you could go to Chuck-E-Cheese, everyday, for free.
And tittie bars would be free and the dancers would tip you for being a good onlooker.

Does any one know how the new morale is implemented? Granted i'm on my second game since getting the new beta, but it seems to me to be base more dependeant on tax rate than before. With my custom race on previous builds, I would got to 0% tax at the beginning and get about 93% morale, which would build to 100% in a few turns. Later i could be pretty aggressive with the tax hikes. Now I get 100% morale of the bat but i have to be more conservative with my rate increases early on. Seems just geared to slow the economy a little. I also noticed in my current game by this point, I used to make like 10K or 15K a turn, but now just 3 to 5 . Maybe thats just me though, cause i try different things all the time.

Frogboy does, but he's still tweaking it for the final 1.3 update.

So I wouldn't spend too much time trying to figure out how it is working in 1.3beta 3x as its most likely gonna be changed in next beta ( devs are using a 3Z beta I believe ) or the final 1.3 update.

And I've pretty much seen the same as you.

It's the same except that morale buildings don't do as much.

If you want to tax away 2/3rds f people's income you'll need to provide them with a lot of entertainment centers (i.e. if you want to be like a Scandinavian country you better provide a lot of government services).

ahhh... Thanks For the clarification:) I actually adjusted quickly and like the changes. Makes me work the pop and morale a little more for good results.

Frogboy are you sure the only thing you've ( Stardock ) changed is the morale bonus of morale buildings?

Pretty sure I saw the exact same thing as DethAdder at the start of the game. I know it's minor but it is definitely different from update1.2 and 1.3beat2a to 1.3beta3x.

I've never built any Morale buildings other than stock markets before 1.3beta3x and I'm having to in the game I'm playing and I do have 1 morale resource. Maybe I've always gotten 2+ resources before but think I would have needed 3+ resources from how the game I'm playing now is playing and pretty sure I didn't always get that.

Also been thinking about how you said in another post that you would like stock markets to be end game buildings. I think you'll have to increase the build cost of them some more and increase their buy cost too. No reason stock markets shouldn't be like doing Industrial Sectors or NLCs.

Besides that there is the cost of researeching the required techs. The research cost of researching to stock markets is very low now. And the only way to make it take significantly longer for all types of games would be to have some of the tech research costs scale with the number of habitable planets/civ in the game, imho. But that would be a birds nest of problems probably; as the 1st tech costs probably shouldn't change at all.

This will make farming and farm bonus tiles completely useless. As it is now, I only research the first 2 farm techs and rarely if ever use ANY bonus tiles. With a reduction in effectiveness of entertainment buildings, it appears that all bonus tiles will have to be ignored and only the first farm tech will be necessary in my future games.

Any word on farming improvements to go along with the morale modifications, to make farming viable?

Cheers,
Reaver

Farming has been nerfed too; farms now add 3,5,6,7 to pop now; build costs have been reduced some but research costs are the same.( with 1.3beta 3X )

i thought i was
i was doing the 2 entertainments : 1 stock market : 1 farm, ratio at 80% tax was working great

Farming has been nerfed too

Funny this, as a large majority believed farming to be nerfed before they nerfed it. Had a hard time creating 95b pop. planets.

Is it still possible to create a 90b-100b pop. planet? Anyone know?

Typical, just when I figured out that any PQ 14+ world could become a 95b+ planet they nerf it.

Have anomolies been changed at all in the latest 1.3 beta? I seem to be getting less 2,500BC ones, less money ones in general actually...

Finally I hope when 1.3 final comes out, there is a metaverse recalculation. It's going to be alot harder to get a higher score when u have less population and money.
