Advice before I Buy

Second Attempt

I don't need all the bells and whistles, I just want to increase usability by making some minor color and size modifications, and then save the changes in a way that Windows can recognize as a standard theme. Has anyone found a way to do this with WindowBlinds? If not, any suggestions on other types of theme editors that can do this?

WB can adjust color easily change (hue, saturation, and luminance) of Windows default skins as well as any you might get at wincustomize.

Depending on what you want to change the size of, SkinStudio lets you build or edit skins to make almost all of the Windows interface different. But be warned, many have used SS for a tiny tweak and ended up lost on this site.

Use your desktop properties menu *Appearance* tab and make all the adjustments you want..

But I really think your only depriving yourself if you dont get Windowblinds, it's an *Awesome program!!

I found my original post. Thought it would be under the WindowBlinds tab, but it's somewhere else...

Anyway, there are two simple things I would like to be able to do:

1) Increase the size of the top-right window buttons (close, minimize, etc.) without affecting anything else, like system tray icons.

2) Modify the color of inactive windows to create more distinction between active and inactive windows.

It does not seem to be possible to do this from Windows when anything other than the classic theme is applied.

I downloaded "free" versions of WindowBlinds and SkinStudio. Tried to modify the buttons and move them slightly, which rendered them useless in actual windows. I tried to modify the inactive toolbar color and quickly wound up with everything in all windows looking purple. So, I gave up, uninstalled everything, and decided to be happy with the way things are.

At any rate, thanks for the advice!
