installing the game on a offline computer

I'm not sure were to post this but I have a question about installing the game. I've already ordered the retail version, it should be here tomorrow. The problem is that I don't have a internet connection, its just a headache as for as I'm concerned, anti-virus, firewalls and even with all that you still get infected. Anyway it sounds like intalling the game should not be a problem but getting updates and patches is a another story. Just to be clear we have two computers, the cheaper one is connected to the internet, it also has a cdburner this is how I get patches and driver updates for my other games on the better offline computer. Anyway is this going to be a problem for GalCiv, from what I've been reading if you update the game it has to be activated by the internet, is this true and if so how would I go about this with a offline system? Thank you in advance.

You can download the patches as .EXE files, burn them to a CD, and copy them over to your other computer. You don't need to activate it via the internet, you just have to input your CD Key to download the patches.

Why not just pick up a cheap hub (like $20) and hook both computers to the internet?

Might be the old security concious taking over. If your core machine is never connected to the net there is no risk to it.

Sounds like a cure worse than the disease to me. Besides, any reasonably savvy person can avoid getting viruses/alware by using firefox and not do stupid things.

No, apparently for later patches, you do have to be on the internet. see this thread here

I know not having a internet connection sounds funny but I kind of like it that way. There's no need to worry about anything. In the future I do plan on moving from where I am now so I well have to get the internet. I did read something about getting the game activated after the patch on a offline computer. I have a alot of other games installed and newer ones and have had no problems patching them.
