Cannot adjust ship properties (name change/upgrade) when ships are stacked or in a fleet)

This is a great game, I'm really enjoying it. But there is one irritation that I have experienced. AFAIK, you can only singly upgrade and or change the name of the ship if it's on it's own. If it's in a fleet or just a stack of ships, as far as I can tell, there is no way to upgrade them or change their name (which is important if you easily want to see thier class, since I put a class designation in front of the class name).

IIRC, it's also difficult for a ship to perform it's functions if it's in a stack (like a constructor)

So please, add some right click functionality and allow players to be able to upgrade/rename/use ships when in a stack or fleet (in the case of the fleet, it would be good for escorts of a defenseless ship).

Also, would it be possible to have part of the ship name to be a user made class designation, like a DDl-02, or FFm-01 that is separate from the name of the ship, so when you upgrade, the ship name can stay the same, but the class designation will change, hence making it easy to identify the class of the ship (i.e. FFm-01 Arrow would change to FFm-02 Arrow when that ship is upgraded)

Here are my ideas, and SOLE complaint, otherwise, this is a STELLAR game!

God Bless

I agree... I can't find a way to upgrade a ship other than ungroup it and move it to a parsec by itself so I can click the little upgrade button in the control panel. I can't find any hotkeys to work around this either. When you have a fleet, or even just a stack of 5 ships and you have to take a turn to move them each to their own parsec, leave them there while they upgrade for a turn, and then move them back, not only is it annoying, but it wastes movement unecessarily and leaves them dangerously exposed for a turn.

I'm bumping this to see if anyone can shed some light on this one.

There's no other way to do upgrading or renaming, but some of the other functions have hotkeys, which you can find in the manual.

Are there plans to make this do-able in a later version?

Yes, please consider at least allowing upgrading from a stack/fleet. This is a very silly reason to have to waste valuable movement and leave a fleet vulnerable for a turn.

Just ... one ... more... shameless bump. Would like to know someone has considered this a problem. Unless anyone can direct me to a thread that shows Stardock is aware of this one and fixing it?

Ditto from me on all of above. Making fleet manipulation easier should be a top priority in the next update. I'm very surprised the beta testers didn't comment on this one.

Another good addition would be to bring back a "sweep" command so that one can patrol for enemy ships.

Also needed is the ability to call out enemy ships that enter the empire's sensor active area. Each turn, right now I have to squint a lot at the minimap to try to find enemy ships. A "zoom to" sentry option for all sensor-active regions would be good.

I fully agree. Lack of possibilty to upgrade a ship when it's in a fleet is very annoying.
Similar problem is with separating a fleet. I found no button at all. You can use 'U' key but button would also be useful.
