Ah right, thanks for that info. I've left it for ~5 minutes before and it never turned off so I'm sure it's an incompatibility problem. The motherboard is 4.5 years old now so it certainly doesn't support Windows 8 "fast bootup" features that I've seen on more recent motherboards. Hybrid wouldn't be beneficial on this machine anyway: the longest part of the boot process by far is POST! I'll look into disabling hybrid boot.

Hi, I'm using the latest version of Start8 on my Windows 8.1 desktop and when I click the normal Shutdown button from the Start8 menu, Windows shuts down and then the PC just sits there doing nothing and I have to switch it off manually. The PC will shutdown and turn itself off correctly if I use a batch file containing this line: [i]shutdown -t 0 -s -f[/i] Seems like a bug to me. Does Start8 shut down the PC in a different way to the way I've done it in my bat
