Small questions

Hi, i just played a couple of hours of FE LH and i had great fun. Atm in my game i got a wasteland near me with caves that i started to explore. While the starting ones were winnable,  i started to bump into ones that slaughtered me without problems. So a couple of questions:

1-I think its good they are so tough but my problem is i cant seem to be able to scout it anyway.Whan i got normal lairs/monsters roaming i can see more or less their strenght. Here its tottaly charge intot the dark and risk a hero, as normal armries cant enter the lairs.Or load/save  which is weak but  which shamefuly  i must admit i use atm

2-Is there a way to retreat?I dont seem to see it. If there isnt maybe it would a nice feature to add, for example you can retreat but all units loose 50% of hp when retreating...

3-Another question is there a way to judge when the roaming monsters will actually attack you. Early on they dont seem to ever attack , but then sometimes out of the blue some attacks. Its confusing.Maybe adding an icone to say these beasts " have been awaken and are hunting"  would be cool.

The pits / caves you describe are part of a wildland. That is an indicator for a vetran player to say the encounters here are not going to be easy. It is mostly intended to be a booby trap. As has been indicated the monsters and quests have incorrectly stated identifiers as weak. Some strong indicators are actually weak or average in terms of a straight up fight. Be wary whenever you enter any wildland.

2 - There is no way to retreat save for a scroll or a special magical ability. The game is not intending for you to retreat.

3 - The same way you tell if a bear is going to attack you in real life when you are within 10 feet of it. By the time you realize it's too late anyway. Mind you not all wild bears will attack you if you are within 10 feet... it is almost as if it were random.

Your recommended solution, play as Tarth, and no normal beast will attack you. But as expert players will inform you, that will also teach you bad habits.

Thanks for the replies, tough i dont really agree with what you wrote. Situations where you cant scout  anyway an enemy  will force you to or avoid that situation alltogether or wait till you have a super army of doom. Both imho doesnt add to fun or strategy thinking

For lack of retreating and lack of indication one of the "sleeping beaties"  has actually awakend and is hunting  you, its again imho unfortunate because you cant expand/level up without exploring and raoming around. At the same time pretty soon you run out of "safe space" and you must wander around those much stronger armies. So you must do it , but if you get unlucky and that super dragon army attacks you, you cant even retreat and try to salvage part of your army....

Ofc its my personal feelings after having played 10 hours or so.
