That wasn't the news to come home to after my weekend at the MotoGP.

Every fatality in Motor racing is felt by everyone in the sport.

The category is one of the most dangerous in car racing.....and is almost unavoidable.

I've been to too many events where the front row of the grid is left vacant.

Dan was to race this weekend in Queensland.

My thoughts are with his family, and fellow Indy drivers.

I saw the video of that crash. It starts from the camera on Wheldon's car. Fifteen cars, three went airborne. One of them was Wheldon's.

My thoughts and prayers to his family.

RIP Dan. They're planning a public memorial service for him over in St. Pete.

Each of us decide what we want to do with our life, some choose regular 9 to 5 jobs where the risk of danger is very low, a few other don't.  I believe those that do know the risk involved with their choice.

None the less, Dan Weldon's death is a great loss to his family, friends and fans.  My sincere condolences go out to them.

R.I.P.  Dan Weldon.

Miracle only one died with so many vehicles mangled so severely.  Not to mention on fire.

Brought back unpleasant memories.  I'm from Indiana, a big fan of the 500, but I helped take care of a severely injured driver named Swede Savage back in 1973 and the experience put me off Indy for awhile.  He was in the ICU for a month before he finally died, had a young child and 7-month pregnant 27 year old wife.

The only solace is that they both died doing something they loved, but the thought of the families left behind is still haunting.

Rest in Peace, Dan Wheldan...
End of DrJBHL's quote

Wheldon :typo:

I hate this, another shitty thing happening to a great human being.

I realize the risk comes with the territory but.... sigh X(

He and his wife had tattooed each other initials on their wrists just the night before at a casino in Vegas. :(

RIP Danny
