Microsoft Streets & Trips with GPS Locator

Any Good?

Hey friends I am traveling across the country in a few days a distance of about 6000 km or roughly 4000 miles. Just wondering if anyone has used Microsoft streets & Trips and if so what is your review? I like the idea of having gps my laptop for the larger screen then a regular gps device has.

Also what is a good way to access Internet. Are there any alternatives to searching for wifi hot spots? I thought about one of the those prepaid wireless broadband usb sticks but they can be costly to buy and use. Here in Canada Virgin Mobile has a 30 day deal for $150. I am hoping to find a cheaper solution though.  http://www.virginmobile.ca/en/phones/phone-details.html?model=BB2GMC998D&colour=Black&contractTerm=Prepaid

Wind Mobile .ca has a $29/mo plan for internet access via USB stick. If you sign up and prepay for at least two months, you will get the USB stick free. This may suit those who live in WindMobile's limited coverage. The $29/mo gives you what WindMobile calls "Unlimited" access. Their fair-usage policy is to reduce your upload/download speed if you exceed 5GB in a month. Details http://www2.windmobile.ca/en/Pages/unlimited-internet-offer.aspx

Microsoft Streets & Trips is a very good trip planning tool, much better than any current online mapping service, and also better than competing products. You may find a wealth of information at the support forum: http://www.laptopgpsworld.com/microsoft-streets-trips/

Hey thanks Joe. The Wind deal seems to be OK but I did not really want to do a contract thing or can I just pay for 2 months up front and be done with it at the end of 2 months?

OK just clicked the link and read there is no contract. Maybe I will do that. My only concern would be coverage.
