"Preparing to download" takes very long time

I just wonder if there is something wrong with my setup. Each time I update Elemental, it takes longer than a minute to do something while it shows "preparing to download". I have lots of games on impulse and none of them have this issue. Usually it takes just couple seconds for the game to start downloading. Do I need to reinstall the game?

It does the same for me.  No idea why it's doing it, but Steam often does the same thing, so I think it's normal.

It is NOT normal for impulse. I have 28 games on it (long time customer) and quite a few software items, and none of those, as far as I can remember, have this problem. With Steam, I am not sure, because it updates in background, so I do not know, and honestly it is irrelevant.

I think all updates take too long, but I haven't noticed any difference between this game & any other game, other than the large number of patches so soon after release.

The reason it takes a while is because it analyzes what you need to download in order to minimize the download size. This selective method certainly takes longer than a pure patch that applies everything as needed, but it has the advantage of speeding up download times and reduce bandwidth costs.

I asked about this in Elemental chat one night, and one of the Stardock crew told me that the long delay is not intended, and they plan to fix it at some point in the future.

"You're always preparing. Why are you always preparing? Just go!"

You get a gold star if you know what I'm quoting :P

Well Impulse itself takes about 4 minutes to open in the first place on my computer, then probably another 6 or 7 minutes to update Elemental.... I end up skipping the updates because i don't want to wait around, i want to play!
