Questions from old TBS guy, needs a bit of guidance

I'm impressed with what I've heard of SSE so I bought it and the two expansion packs.  Here's my questions:

1.  How can I reeeealy slow down the game?  I am a turn based player in my 60's and want the game to go at a crawl, even.  I know about pausing, but if I pause too late, well you know how it goes...  What files do I alter and how to change the slowdown settings to make them even slower?

2.  I want to play with both entrenchment and diplomacy add-ons active at the same time.  Which executable do I launch?  The one for SSE or the one for Entrenchment or the one for Diplomacy?  Or do I have to have Trinity? (which I did not buy, I bought these on Stardock separately.)

3.  If I want to use the latest Distant Stars mod, do I have to download the mod files for Diplomacy AND the other mod files for Entrenchment and the vanilla SSE game also?  I know this is a mod question but one of you regulars on the forum probably can point me in the right direction.

Thanks!  I look forward to fumbling my way to victory with your help.

1) When you start a game you can go into game options and set everything to slow. If you want it slower than that then you'll need to alter the gameplay.constants file

2) If you launch Diplomacy, Entrenchment will be in there

3) If you are only going to play Diplomacy, then you'll need Diplomacy 0.7, and 0.5 patch files. If you want to play Entrenchment without Diplomacy you'll need to get Entrechment files to 0.9951. As far as I understand vanilla sins DS is not being updated for the latest sins version yet. No doubt someone from DS will confirm.

1. If you're playing with the Distant Stars Mod, head into the mod's folder and open the GameInfo folder and find the gameplay.constants file.

If not, head to the install location of the game. (In Impulse, right click on any of the SSE icons and select 'Open application folder'.) If you plan on only playing with both expansions, go into the Diplomacy, then GameInfo folders, and then find and open the gameplay.constants file.

In the file, find these lines: (They're about 3/4s of the way down, lines 445 to 514)

    buildSpeedData
    cultureSpeedData
    researchSpeedData
    incomeSpeedData
    shipPhysicsSpeedData
    diplomaticPointsSpeedData

Lower the numbers on the Slow Scalars. Save (To a mod if you're editing the non-mod install file), and done. If Distant Stars or the game updates, you may have to do it again.

2. Diplomacy. SSE launches without either expansion, Entrenchment launches with only that one, Diplomacy launches with both.

3. Latest version should say which it is compatible for. If you get Diplomacy version (If that version is out yet) then you don't need the other versions unless you plan on playing without the Diplomacy expansion enabled.
