Themed Skins, why some WBs get them and others don't

I've had this one question in the back of my mind for awhile.

There always seem to be quality WindowBlinds being uploaded to the WC Gallery Library but only a few ever have themed skins made to go wiith them, either by the WB skinner or other community skinners.

Is this a case of skinners not asking for permission or is permission from the WB skinners not being given?

Is the community losing skinners or the interest in doing theme skins or could it be a question of quality vs quantity?

I know that as a user of the software, (non-skinner), I can go through the libraries and pull together like or complimentary skins to make a nice desktop, but it's not the same as a themed desktop.

As an example, Stardock/WinCustomize releases Subscriber skins, really, they do, but you hardly ever see, is any, themed skins other than those included.

Yes, this thread is all about ME, I'm looking for more themes so I can make Theme Manager Suites.  :O :-"

Feel free to throw together suites for any of mine Philly, all of them have some matching skins.. some more than others.

A majority of the new Stardock/WinCustomize/subscriber skins are encrypted, so aside from permission to use the graphics to make themed accessories for those skins, a skinner would have to get the actual graphics, also.

I always give permission and I'm even willing to supply Photoshop files when needed. I'm rarely asked, however.

It is my experience that Stardock design is hard to get permission from. I have tried several times and rarely even get a reply.

I would love it if people would make more skins to match my blinds. I feel weird about asking, though. Feels too much like "pretty please make some matching skins for me :'( "

I figure if people like what I do and want to make something to match, then they will ask. Maybe not.....

I'll say it then:

Pretty please, make some matching skins for me! ;)

i try to do most of my own matching things with my skins, so i rarely get asked for matching stuff, although i have been asked for permission for rightclicks a fair bit, and always say yes.

i supose it also depends on time, and permission and if someone asks too i guess.....

Tim, as long as I have time and you have a PSD, I'm always happy to do a dream to match.

Tim, I'll be asking, but if I'm too slow, ask away!  I am flattered when asked to do a skin!

I would love to do more skins, but, between work and everything else it gets hard sometimes.....I stay up too late, sometimes I only get 4-5 hours of sleep when I'm working on a skin and after a few days of that even if I have a day off, it catches up to Me and it gets hard to focus because I'm falling asleep. The good news is, on October 4th I start My 6th year on the job and it's only another 14 until I retire.......so You can expect a lot more in 2024! ;)

That is a good amount of sleep for a week for a skinner. ;) ;P :P

:-|   hmm....I've emailed ID several times for permission to make SD boots....and always received a prompt positive reply.

I don't get why it would be a problem....especially if the skinner has a good track record of quality in their area.....it only serves to accentuate and promote their product...

I can't speak for everyone, but I can speak for me: I ask the WB skinner if I can make matching skins if the WB strikes my fancy. If the skin don't do it for me, then I don't bother.

I would bet that's the case more often than not.

Of course, lately I've been obnoxiously busy and haven't had hardly any time to skin. For instance, in the last week I was able to finish the pop-up menu mouseover and background for Tinted. That's it!

Now see, this is where aI get into to trouble.... I can't seem to get the WB skinners to skin fast enough!!!

Just joking, Brian!  Sounded good tho....:omg: :-" ;)

You start paying as much as some of my customers have been for my print design projects, and I'll be happy to speed it along!

I also think some of this may be due to the WB skinner forming a team of skinners who can collectively create a suite. For instance, vStyler has his team who always come together to make matching skins for his blinds.

I pulled in a few people to help with Carbon Fibre GTV, but I don't have a "team" per se. If the WB skinner doesn't have a team, or doesn't pull others in on purpose, then it's really up to others who like a WB and have the time to produce matching skins to contact the author.

when you next want to get permission, Just drop Island dog an e-mail, it will be a lot shorter wait then asking the design team
