It would be useful to be able to archive applications even though they are not supported by the current OS.
I don't think it would matter - ever tried to restore an Impulse archive created with the right-click "download to archive" or whatever option if a version of the app isn't already installed? I just tried it with the new MyColors skin. Impulse created the archive, but the only way I could see to get it to restore/install/execute the archive was through Windows Explorer, and then it just opened up Impulse and downloaded it again and installed it. Quite possibly I didn't do something right but that's where I ended up.
