The option to Skip Opening Cinematic in the menu doesn't work. The game still shows the movies and even if you delete them, you have to press escape or the game game will be stuck at a starfield.
Same version, works for me.
Even if it does still play the movie, clicking will skip it.
Yeah but I don't want to click through all the Stardock & friends ads everytime I start the game. I don't want to see them like I can do in all my other games!
Is the "skip cinematic" intended to cancel all intro movies? In my game, skip cinematic only disables the story cinematic, ie the general discussing the arrival of the Vasari and return of the Advent. The rest of the cinematics, stardock etc... still plays, and I kinda assumed that was the intention...
for the record on boot up you get:
1. SD logo
2. IC logo
3. sins intro (which can be set to either a static image that looks like this forum or a movie)
all are escapeable and it's no where near as bad as other publishers.

You can turn the logos off too by opening the user.setting file in application data and setting:
ShowIntroMovies FALSE
ShowOpeningCinematic FALSE
I think something may have been broken in that functionality, Blair. I've had it set that way for ages and just checked to confirm I have those lines set to false, and yet when loading the game now I get the logo screens. I do remember it when it skipped the logo screens with these settings, but not currently.
It just switches them from movies to 2d images of the logos, doesn't completely skip them but the initial load time should be faster.
Ah, my mistake then. I'm just remembering wrong then as I thought I had it setup at one time to go straight to the opening menu. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks, that's indeed a lot better. The waiting for the menu went from 27 sec to 5 sec !
