Gaian Crescent: Starting a game without a Capital Planet designated?

I was not sure if I should have posted this issue in this forum, but I've noticed something strange coming up when I start a game up (either single or multi- player, doesn't matter) using the small map called Gaian Crescent; your home world is not a Capital Planet. The allegiance of said planet was 25%, really slowing down the game from the get-go (oh, and it had no Planetary Upgrades whatsoever, even though it still had the two constructors and Frigate Factory outside).

Of all the maps I've looked through, it seems this map's the only one with this little quirk which comes up regardless of which race you select. Then again, I'm not sure if this is an actual option that you can set for particular rounds.

Anyone else noticed this?

It is a design choice, read the description of the level. 'Life is tough out in the colonies,' or something to that effect.

There is another thread floating around discussing the level. Essentially you want to buy the home planet upgrade immediately for a positive cash flow. The first infrastructure upgrade removes 1.5 credits/second of the penalty. Together you have 3.5 credits/second at that point. Colonize the nearby asteroid and try to capture the neutral metal extractors, their .8 metal/second is much higher than you'll get for a while when your allegiance is slowly climbing(although the colonizable asteroid will start at 90% allegiance to your new homeworld).

I consider this map similar to the 'Nomad' starting point in Age of Empires, you start with next to nothing. Here you quickly grow your colony with its 10 population into a thriving solar system.

Yeah I failed that one a couple of times before I figured out what was going on. The very first thing you need to do is buy that capital upgrade. Oh, and get your free capital ship, since you probably won't be able to afford much else for a while.
