Want to do QA/testing for Stardock?

There is an exciting opportunity open for the right person at Stardock.  We are in search of a talented person to do QA and testing of our products.  This would include everything from Object Desktop to Games to Stardock Design projects.

This position is physically at Stardock, so please don't apply unless you are willing to work at the Stardock building, which is in Plymouth, Michigan.

The candidate should be somebody who uses our products, understands a wide range of technology, and somebody who has used many versions of Windows and different hardware configurations.

Though we prefer somebody with a degree, we will accept resumes from candidates who are extremely familiar with our products and have a desire to help us improve them.

Job Description:
Applicants will make a difference by helping identify general-usage issues before releases, as well as using their technical abilities to help developers identify problems during application design and development. This full-time position has a high degree of upward mobility.  The position is at this location- no remote work will be considered.

Job Responsibilities:
• Test planning.
• Test execution.
• Defect tracking.
• Coordination of testing resources.
• Working with the development staff to validate fixes, and reporting.
 
Job Requirements:
• Candidate must be capable of working independently and in groups.
• Candidate must have demonstrably clear written and oral communication skills as well as analytical skills.
• Must be capable of multitasking.

What I think BX means, are they willing to hire someone that is not an American Citizen
who is willing and able to move?

I think the answer is No because it costs a heck of a lot of money to do that, plus tons of permits and other issues.

Bummer....that's all I (Morpheous416) did for three out of five years working for JDS Uniphase was Quality Assurance manager for Front Surface mirrors...(the kind used in big screen TVs).

Sounds like a fun job.

Good luck to those that are going for it. It was a lot of work, but fun.

I lived for about 6 months in Drayton Plains (on Lake Oakland in Oakland County) which ain't too far from there. If you go there take your long underwear. Snowmobile Suit was the only clothing in fashion at that time. (1977)

My family moved back to Florida in late April that year and I remember seeing an article in the paper here about a frost up there damaging crops in late June. brrrrrr.......

South East Michigan isn't particularly cold. Spring and summer are as warm here as anyone else. I can't ever remember there ever being a frost here in May let alone June.

I'd just like to mention that asking for salary requirements on the cover letter is a weaselly thing to do, even if it is completely standard business practice. I know it's great for your bottom line if the applicant low-balls it, but you're hiring a person to be a member of your team, and you'll be asking for their trust and loyalty. Behaving like a used car salesman while doing it isn't exactly the best way to get started down that road. I'm not saying you should publicly advertise the going rate, but keeping the compensation out of the discussion until you've narrowed down your choices and then making them offers seems like a more honorable way to handle it. At my last job, I low-balled and later found out I was making 60% of what other people doing the same job were making, and it took me over two years of incremental raises to get wage parity, even though some of them had only worked there a few months more than I had.

Anyway, good luck on hiring your QA tester.

My brother did training in Livonia a few years ago. It's a very nice area.

Unigolyn, that's kind of passing the buck. If you'd done your research you should have been able to determine a more accurate range to put the expectations. To expect to be making the same as co-workers who've proven themselves is also kind of lame. It's also the name of the game.

For my last job. I worked on industry averages plus my skill and experience. Also, I knew what the job entailed. Sure, I was making more than some of the managers but, I didn't have the title. And you can't compare apples to oranges.

You are assuming that we look for a low wage.  We hire people for what the position is worth, not what they put on their resume.  However, if a position is worth X and they ask for double of triple X, then we like to know prior to interviewing them.

Not all companies are as scummy as you have experienced.  We pay people for what the job is worth, with added pay for experience and over achievement.

But, if i DON'T get the job, I will send off the bill for those avatars....... they are only $15,000 each......

Sure, come in for an interview...say, at about 1pm today?
