Problem with duplicating custom ship models

This problem usually starts after you load a saved game. When you select a colony and bring up the ship building menu, you get alot of old deleted models. Once I even had such an outdated model *stuck* in production and couldn't change it to anything else, the planet just infinetly built the same ship over and over no matter what.
Let me give some more details of that situation in case I didn't make much sense
Firstly I built a starbase constructor ship named "Speed Builder". As better engine technology became available I kept upgrading its speed and saving the new design over the old one. Then loading my saved game the next day I had about 5 different ship designs named "Speed Builder" in my ship building list and planetary ship production was stuck on the worst of those ships whenever I tried to build a constructor.
And this hapenned in nearly ever game I played.
