I think that will work for most people, but for me it has not. I've checked them several times, applied the settings, unchecked them and re-applied tried rebooting and logging on and off or just switching users several times. I think I may have read somewhere that when the PC is a member of a domain, Classic Login is forced and you cannot get the welcome screen. I am in a workgroup for home networking purposes, but I didn't think that qualified as being a member of a domain.

Not to hijack your post, but I am having the same problem. No matter what I do, I get the classic logon screen. I know the vers of XP I am using had some registry tweaks applied and though I was able to turn off autologon via the registry I don't know how to restore the welcome screen. Also I have changed the defaultusername in the registry multiple, multiple times only to have it return to Admin which is just annoying.
