Desktop X object permissions

It is assumed that when you upload a DesktopX object that you are giving permission to others to use them in their themes and they can therefore upload a theme that includes your DesktopX object without permission.
-this is quoted from the about section

Wow I never knew this - and to think! I have wasted all that bandwidth e-mailing people for dx permissions!!!

It's important to remember and respect your fellow skinners and include credits and links to the authors' work. I personally don't think it's a bad idea to email and ask for permission

O of course that is infered but just the fact that we have the right is very knew to me (remember this is dx)

Also, keep in mind that it is OBJECTS. This doesn't mean you can pull objects out of someone elses theme and use them in yours.

Listen to Phoon...... be careful what you use. If the object was uploaded as a STANDALONE object to the DesktopX OBJECTS library, then you can use it. If the object is a part of someones theme, and they made that object specifically for that theme, you cannot use it without permission.

I hope this clarifies things for you.

(Thanks Phoon)

You're quite welcome ..
I didn't EVEN want to see that can of worms set forth upon the masses.

Oh I understand perfectly that it only applies to standalone objects
I just thought it was cool that you dont all those text docs in the zip
There dosn't even have to be a zip
you can just upload the theme by itself

Just to clear up any further confusion..... a file that ends .dxtheme IS a zip file, it's just renamed by the DX program.
