I absolutely love the Pin Folder Menu feature in Start11 - it's honestly one of the best ways to access frequently used folders and files directly from the taskbar. However, there's one significant limitation that affects productivity: the menu automatically closes after opening a single file or folder.
For power users who frequently need to open multiple files or folders in succession, this creates an unnecessary workflow interruption. Currently, you have to:
- Click the pinned folder
- Select one file
- Menu closes
- Repeat the process for each additional file
Feature Request:
- Add middle-click support to open files/folders without closing the menu (just like opening links in a browser with middle click - stays on the same tab / tab is not closed)
- OR implement a hover delay - keep the menu open when the cursor remains within the menu area
- OR add a simple toggle option to keep the menu open until manually closed
Also a significant limitation I've noticed though - when browsing folders within the shortcut, I would love the ability to middle-click on folders to quickly open them in new Explorer windows without closing the Pin Folder Menu (as well as for files themselves). This would be incredibly useful for power users who need to open multiple folder locations in quick succession while retaining the menu's visibility. Currently, the menu closes after each file click (folders cannot be opened, but viewed for files in them), requiring us to reopen it repeatedly. Adding middle-click support for folders would streamline this workflow significantly.
This would be an incredible productivity boost for those of us who regularly work with multiple files or folders from our pinned folders. The current implementation is great for casual use, but these suggested improvements would make it perfect for power users too.
Also currently folders can only be opened using right-click -> open in the Pin Folder Menu.
And with adding middle-click support - it would be a great productivity enhancement to be able to middle-click both files and folders to open them without closing the shortcut menu. This would make it much more efficient when working with multiple items.
Speaking from experience, having to repeatedly reopen the menu after each action really breaks the workflow. The middle-click functionality would be a perfect solution since it's already an intuitive action that many users are familiar with from browsers.
Would love to hear if others face similar challenges and what the Stardock team thinks about these potential improvements.
Thank you for considering this feedback!
