Keyboard Windows Start key no longer opening Start11

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. When you press the Windows key on the keyboard. What open up? The default Windows start panel or nothing come up? If nothing come up, try disable Start11 and see if Windows default Start panel come up. Report back.

The Windows 11 default menu appears. As mentioned, I had completely uninstalled Start11, rebooted and reinstalled it.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Check the control page in Start11 to make sure it is set correctly.

Be warned that a purge would lose your settings including shortcuts if using Win10/11 style!

Also what build of Windows 11 are you using?

Resetting did the trick, thanks... Still working properly after several reboots.

running into the same issue now.   suddenly the windows key opens the default start menu when set to open the start11 start menu.

is the only fix a complete reinstall/loss of settings/shortcuts etc then?

Are you perhaps using a Windows insider build?

yep, remembered this after the fact.  been queued for unenrollment (due to things like this) but who knows how long thats gonna take. 

i did install the 1.4.2 beta here hoping that would address it, alas no bueno. 

I am pleased to say the next update of Start11 which should be released soon will resolve it.

In the short term you can fix this as follows :

Go to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Start8\Start8.ini\Start8

using Regedit and then add a new string value called AllowWinKeyFix and give it a value of 1 and then sign out and in again.
