WindowFX Taskbar and Icons Flicker Windows 10

WindowsFX Flicker Bug

Hello

I installed WindowsFX and it works great. But I have found a bug, unfortunately. When I move around a window with the Wobble Effect, my taskbar starts to flicker. This also happens with the icons too.

At first, I was wondering if it wasn't playing nice with Fences so I disabled it and the problem never went away. The problem only goes away when I disable WindowsFX.

It flickers on all screens. As I have a taskbar on all 4 monitors and icons on all of them, they don't flicker in sync. It doesn't happen when I minimize or maximize a window. Just when moving it around.

Need more information.

1) Is the problem goes away if you turn down from 4 to 3 or 2.

2) Please provide monitor resolutions on and scaling applied to each monitor.

3) Do you have any added component to your graphics card driver such as Geforce Experience etc etc. Try turn that off and see if it help.

Yes I have Geforce Experience. I closed out of it and it still did the same thing.
There are
NVIDIA GeForce Overlay
NVIDIA Container
NVIDIA Share
NVIDIA Web Helper Service
I forced closed NVIDIA GeForce Overlay and that made no difference.

Sorry, I mean turn off the display/monitor to just one, main Monitor, and see if it help. If it does. Turn on one at the time until you see the problem again.

If it happened, even with one monitor. Try the purge and reinstall step mentioned here : https://forums.stardock.com/485903/windowfx-support-faq

Make sure to re-download the latest version from your account and reboot. Retest and report back here.

Pasted from Msg to me.

I've removed everything NVIDIA Geforce Experience and installed the updated driver NVIDIA Graphics Driver 419.35 without everything else just the display driver. I rebooted and it's still the same. It still flickers with Compiz style wobbly / jelly windows or WindowFX style wobbly windows. Doesn't make a difference, they both do it. Will you please fix WindowFX. It's obviously a bug with the program.

I'm reinstalling everything back now since it wasn't the problem.

Please update your Nvidia display driver. And this time please just install the default driver. Un-select the rest that come with the driver.

That's extremely irritating.

Anyways, I disabled all but one monitor and tried it. It still flickered. I then tried it on all monitors before enabling all monitors back the way they were. Still flickered.

I then did as you suggested and ran Purge_WFX.bat and rebooted. I reinstalled and put my key back in. Unfortunately, it's still the same.

Looks like WindowFX has some bugs that need to be squashed.

Please try the following:

-Open the Start Screen, and type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator' from below.

-Type: sfc /scannow

-Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes)

If the SFC finds errors, but cannot fix them, please also run the following command in the same command prompt window:

What I sent to Basj in a message.
I installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 Home 64-bit about a month ago so there are no errors. As seen here:

C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

I'm sure the WindowFX application probably needs some work to fix the glitching problems with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 PNY cards.
I haven't run into any other graphical problems with software but this one.

I only get flickering when I use WindowFX. So not sure what the deal is. If I disable the wobble only it's fine.

Posted back on Dec 09, 2017 and that fella had the exact same issue.

It's the same issue. I have a fresh copy of Windows 10 already and my drivers up to date and as I shown there are no integrity violations.
Others seem to have also reported the same problem and here's the funny thing. You commented on it. You basj this month last year and yet it hasn't been fixed.

Now g01an noted: the two animations Compiz and WindowFX Movement are the only ones to effect this.

He also noted and quote:

- it reproduces with most apps, common or not: browser (Chrome, Firefox), text/source editors (PSPad, Sublime, Notepad++, PyCharm, Eclipse), most games in windowed mode and their desktop clients (Steam, Battle.net);

- it doesn't reproduce with explorer or control panels or task manager and with some apps is less annoying than with others (i.e. the distortions/flickering is not as violent when moving Steam client compared to most others in the list).

I've tried most of everything that person did and yeah, it does the same. Some Apps like Task Manager work just fine and won't flicker but an explorer window will.

As I said. It's a problem with the program. Perhaps maybe the developers should look into it. I bought a half working application.

As mentioned before, and in that other thread also. I have forward the issue to Stardock Support. And you will have to wait for their respond since its the weekend for them now.

As a side note. I have not seeing this problem on my system here a short video testing it.

Thanks. Hopefully, it can get fixed. This flickering glitch is driving me nuts.
I have also noticed sometimes when the browser window is in fullscreen and you drag it to (Restore Down) it leaves a shell imprint of itself in the restore down position for 5 or so seconds and then disappears.

So it makes it look like you have double of the exact same window. I keep forgetting to take a screenshot of it when it happens.

Hello my flickering friend.

Just wanted to mention that yesterday I actually tried the purge script and scanning for broken system files as recommended in various threads.

It didn't fix the problem though. Basically just the same.

I also tried activating / deactivating random options in WindowFX to see if it's perhaps fixed if something else is activated.

Didn't work either though.

I also tried changing random options in windows that might have something to do with it.

No luck.

I'm using an AMD card btw. So it's not an Nvidia issue.

I also updated drivers yesterday. But my drivers are usually up-to-date. So I had the previous version already not some old as hell driver.

I could make a BIOS update on the graphics card maybe. But usually I try to stay away from that stuff if possible.

What kind of programs are you using?

Are you using tortoisegit or tortoisesvn by any chance? Or some other similar software?

I've been thinking about what could possibly cause this and I have nothing special running in the background.

Just the usual stuff. Some control programs for sound drivers, graphic drivers, printer and so on.

Nothing fancy.

But I do have both tortoisegit and tortoisesvn installed and that's literally the only thing I didn't want to uninstall to test if it's the cause of the problem.

They are updating icons and stuff in folders ... so maybe there is some update cycle running interfering with WindowFX?
