Chat room, what's with...

I have read the instuctions,
I have tried sending a message and nothing happens,
I think I don't know how to use it and I feel awful dumb right now.

Are there any other instructions available?

After connecting, a message came up saying "Welcome to Stardock IRC" ect.

I have never used one of these before and while I was fiddling around with it, Earthlink knocked me off for lack of activity. I am using IE right now.

I will try the Skinbrowser again in a few moments, then move to the chat thing.

Thank-you WOM, and everybobdy,

I got that part down, but now I have another problem. It seems that while using the chat, I get disconnected by my isp for inactivity.

How do I get around that problem?

your firewall might have a *keep alive* function, where it sends a packet just to get a response so your service doesn't think your just holding a link while out to the store or something

if not, there are some freeware ones on the web if you do a search for that phrase, or maybe osmeone here knows of one....

Norton Internet Security has it built in all you have to do is turn it on...
So maybe the others do also...

http://0a.itgo.com/ Here's one WOM. Oh, and welcome back. Having been in your situation a couple of years ago all I can say is take it slow and easy. If you smoke, definitely quit (I did!), and watch the diet. (The hardest part for me. )

Also, a big apology for the pop ups and pop unders from that last link. (I guess they gotta pay for the freeware somehow. )

Thanks everyone for the links and help, I think I got it now. But wouldn't you know, while I was figuring the chat thing out, Earthlink, my new isp, sends me an Email saying my credit card co. refuses to pay the bill for some unknown reason.

Now I have to wait untill tommorow to straighten that out and in the meantime I am being charged late fees.

it seems "they" get you coming and going.

Does it ever end?
