The things we do....

https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=13&SkinID=1137

Started out with XP Pro in [NTFS]...
Chucked out the Exploder shell in favour of LiteSTEP...
Added VMWare...
Installed Win98 se into that [fat32 within NTFS]...
Ho-hum...
Installed QNX Neutrino 6.2 OS into Win98 [dual boot]...

Now, if I can get QNX to run Linux.....

I guess I 'could' have installed QNX into win98 running in a VM within a Win98 running within a VM in XP....but that'd be just plain silly....

It worked for me. But all of this is way above my pay grade.

*gasp*

Spamming the board, eh? Tsk tsk... Okay, okay, running multiple OSes at the same time can be considered 'cool'.

/me just got my iMac networked to another machine running winXP! yahooo!!!

(and it only took me two days! (and no sleep)

but I still need a virtual pc on the imac cuz I want my old software to run and pocket pc's pretty much only sync on windows environments not iMac's at this point.

hey what happened to my excited tags?

Jafo do you ever read Maxium PC? Check out the Rig Of The Month for Nov 2002. It's called the Menagerie. It has 37 operating systems and 57 if you count the DOS managers. Thats got to hurt.

Wow....look what I got....a piece of string....

Ouch!....hmmm....something sharp, here....

i have nothing against 2 OS's on one machine.

but after an initial attempt to put UNIX on a dual boot machine destroyed the boot sector, i have always been a bit weary about the third one

what concerns me is the performance hit of running an OS within an OS within an OS within an OS, ala Jafo.

feline, technically, I'm only really using 2 OS's, XP and QNX. It's just that QNX was installed into the 'partition image file' created by VMWare as a Win98 'machine'.
Normally QNX cannot install into NTFS, and Win98 either, but both are happy on the same 'C' drive as the Host XP.
QNX boots via a floppy accessed as the Win98 machine 'posts'....

One of the fun things is having LiteSTEP running twice, once in each system, and Windowblinds, too.

The only 'strange' part is when you have WinAMP playing in XP, and WinAMP playing in Win98....at the same time, both accessing the same soundcard....

"Row, row, row your boat....
Row, row, row, your boat...
Jently down the stream...."

THAT's when it gets weird...

I'm hoping a geek God kitty kat... hehe (btw hello kitty!)

Jafo do you know anything about sticking a Virtual PC emulator on an iMac? I'm trying to get pcAnywhere to run on my iMac machine w/ OS X (Jaguar) but that particular program does not have an iMac compatible version yet (can you believe that?)

so I'm thinking if I install a virtual pc emulator of windows XP on my iMac I can get my pcAnywhere up and running? along w/ all my other win apps and I won't have to replace those for iMac versions? but it's the pcAnywhere I'm most concerned about, (cuz there is no iMac version yet, plus pocket pc syncing on an iMac is almost impossible right now still pretty beta) do you know anything about this?

The emulators are expensive and I can't get straight answers on the pcAnywhere problem prior to making the purchase... I got busy trying to hook my lil boys up w/ a network so they can have cable speed for their gaming and stuff but right now the way it stands mommy still has to keep kicking them off their machine so I can dial into work cuz of the pcAnywhere.

any help would be greatly appreciated! (I'll even start grabbing my Dictionary when I come visit here)

does grabbing have one or two b's? hehe

Thanks Jafo

'grabbibg' has 2, Doreen...

Sorry, but dunno about iMacs and what you need to set up a virtual OS to run in a Mac.
I get lost with my network settings to file-share between the Os's even when they are both Microsoft, eg. 98 and XP.

I don't have any Mac OS's or machines, so I've never tried dealing with them at all...

And 'grabbibg' was intended to be 'grabbing'....but you already new that...

They're looking for a few good alligator wrestlers at Brazos Bend Preserve south of my house. Picky eaters compared to crocs. They'll play finders-keepers and swallow the ripped off limb in their jaws, but they won't generally come back for the rest of you. Send me Jafo's resume.

Ever since Jafo got ADSL his spelling has gone too hell. Sign of the times or the crocodiles?

Crae...I blame it on a dirty keyboard....

Okay thanks anyways Jafo.
I have to try to figure out a way around this over the weekend...
