I'm not specially fond of Magic.
In FE, magic is good and powerfull if you dedicate to it (as I think magic should be), but you can develope it only in a more defensive way (city spells, tutelage, ironskin, tireless march...) as a complement for brute force.
With latest patches, the AI is working a bit better with magic, but still needs some polish. One thing that might help, is a basic spell that I'm missing: The Dispell Magic --> Removes an enchantment on a unit.
While there is a dispell magic for cities, I did not find the same for units. This spell would be interesting in combats, if the AI is teached to use it.
I would give it to Dragons, Bosses, and other strong beasts, as a way to avoid (or minimize) the blind/slow/shrink combos that convert them in puppets.
If you think it is interesting, I even suggest 3 versions:
- Basic Dispell: Removes an enchantment on a unit.
Note: The idea is to remove THE LAST enchantment casted on that unit (and not other protective spell that the unit might have). I mean: If I cast shrink on an AI Sov, the AI should remove the shrink, not the ironskin spell that was already protecting him. It is logical to say that, but I wanted to let it clear.
- Advanced Dispell: Removes ALL enchantments (even ironskin, tutelage, etc...) on a unit. A good spell for a good caster.
- Mass Dispell: Removes an enchantment on ALL units in combat. Like the "Fear" or "curse" effects. Powerfull and prohibitive mana cost....
