I know the EULA states two computers (so long as you are the main user of both) but what about virtual machines?
I am a student and I have a home lab set up in vmware running on my personal computer. I am doing work with datacenter style applications as well as programming. This involves frequent cloning and deletion of virtual machines, many of them containing windows 8 (I obtained the RTM version via dreamspark,) and I just loathe metro. That said, I will invariably end up with duplicate (or even 3 or 4 or 5) usage of keys. These will all be running on one physical machine though, there will be no network access to these virtual systems and they will never migrate to other physical machines.
Would this run afoul of licensing? Does the software phone home, and if so, would it cause a problem if multiples of the same keys showed up?
Thanks!
