[.86][Suggestion]I shouldn't be able to visit the shop unless I'm within my city limits, not my borders.
The title says it all.
The title says it all.
Can't say I would agree. Moving units in and out of cities is already a pain via the current interface, the less of that I have to do the better.
I agree with Rhadagast.
Same.
Sorry Nomorebeef... in the words of Brad Wardell, "maybe it's time for you to just move along and try another game". LOL. just kidding.
Traveling Merchants...
Wish I could wack the ennemy merchants and steal all their stuff!!
are you able to mod those in? a quest that grants a temporary merchant or a champion with shop options or random buildings in the world that offer items for sale?
I was just pointing out that that is how we are able to trade anywhere within our territory. Traveling Merchants...
I know, but can you mod in that other stuff I was talking about? I would love to have more shopping options in this game.
Oh, yes, my current mod adds several new items to the shop. Basically every citylevelup building adds something. One of the coolest things is that Archivist adds Books that you can buy to increase hero stats.
I think the request was more for shopping options like the neutral cities used to offer. You know, things you can't get locally...
It would be pretty cool to have a witch or old man of the forest selling black market potions.
Or an old warrior selling second hand weapons which fell of the back of a cart.
I still remember buying stuff from neutral factions in E:WOM. It will be good to see their return at some point.
If base movement values were higher, I could see moving into a city to conduct trade, but as it stands, just moving into the ZOC is fine, and doesn't slow down the pace of the game unnecessarily.
Just think of it as servants running to and from the city running errands for you, and you'll be fine.
I hope my posts don't sound like I'm whining. Since it's a beta version, I'm just trying to provide feedback on anything I think would make the game better/more immersive. I like the game alot as it stands. I'm just trying to give the most feedback I can.
Feedback on a subject such as this is not particularly meaningful unless you provide a 'why'?
You think you should have to be in the city to shop. Great. Why? What positive impact on gameplay do you think it will have.
Your arguments don't need to be good ones, or smart ones, or anything really, but they should at least exist.
That's not the purpose of the Title.
If they were to change the system, they would have to add Outposts as a place to buy/sell from merchants.
I'm not understanding you. When I wrote the title of my post, I said everything I meant to say and really had nothing to add to the body of it.
Sean or Heavenfall, can one of you guys create a mod for Nomorebeef that restricts him from using the shop unless he is in a city?
Then create a mod for me, tjashen, and feelotraveler that has a quest that makes a merchant appear and allows you to buy unique items for one turn then disappears or some NPCs (like champions, but you can't recruit) that allow you to buy stuff from them or minor factions that do the same?
I get what nomorebeef is saying, logically shopping while 4 or 5 tiles away from the town border makes no sense. But then as pointed out by seanw3, Travelling merchants could explain that.
So how about earning those merchants via the tech tree. Early game challenges being made harder by having to limit where you can trade until such time that a civics tech gives you that benefit.
Seems like the realistic scenario to me.
That would be awesome. One-shot shops with uber-cool gear. Sign me up as well.
Thats exactly what I'm saying. Thanks for clarifying that for me. It's not a game breaker or anything. It just doesn't make sense to me to be able to purchase things at a shop that is nowhere near a city just because I'm within my civ borders. Why can't I have troops appear anywhere within my borders as soon as they're trained? Why can't I immediately teleport to my city center as soon as I enter my borders? It's pretty much the same thing to me.
Exactly. In the game's current state, you pick up a lot of stuff that you have to sell to be able to keep your taxes low. So having to move back to the city to sell it would be a major pain. Now if the game evolves so that you no longer pick up so much stuff, or there's little need in the early game to go to the shop, then I might change my opinion. But as the game currently works, and will likely stay, I say leave shopping the way it is.
Hmmmm, how about travelling toilets then?
The Title is not meant for you to write the main post in, that's the purpose of the main body of the thread. Let's ignore the fact that there is nothing to discuss in your title as you are just stating your opinion and don't add arguments for Stardock to consider why they should accept your suggestion as something to implement/change. Which is the same as me making a thread titled "FE should allow me to order pizza online" and in the main body I write "The title says all".
If Frogboy were to use the Title of his threads to write the actual content of his Dev Journals (with a body that says: "The title says all"), they would be very short and without pics and vids. ![]()
