I think I need a new sport!

As you may recall, about 6 weeks ago, I broke my collarbone whilst enjoying my favorite activity, which is mountain biking. I've healed faster than I expected and and have begun riding and enjoying the trails again. So...

Third time out on the bike after the broken collarbone healed sufficiently and I managed to encounter another sudden gust of gravity and break two ribs! Holy krap that hurts.

Embarassingly stupid "tip-over" in the worst possible place. I managed to fall with minimal speed, and great form (I must say) about 4 feet onto an old steel tube barrier fence right in the middle of my right side. KRACK! (x2) Ooof!

So now attempting to (insert ANY activity here) hurts like you cannot imagine. Mountain biking... a great sport, I highly recommend (watching) it.

A friend of mine discovered the same thing about hang-gliding...

Don't get a cold Russ, The last thing you want to do with broken ribs is cough a lot.

good luck, god speed with healing

Russ....one of my bike-shop owning friends, who's into MB racing was not impressed with the 'no-fear' stickers for the sport and made his own in the same style and font.....they read 'Shit-scared', instead....

The trick with Mountain-Biking is that you must stop being a putz. Gravity only gets you down, so ignore it....

[Try to get well soon.....and maybe invest in body armour]....

Russ - we can get segways (that new super scooter thing) and go scooting around!

yeah...get well soon Russ.

I think that Jafo might have a good idea there...body armour!!!

I personally think that you were just 'unlucky' ...ride easy, get your confidence back, and you prolly won't have another crash for ages.

Holy crap Russ, you've had a rough season.

As a longtime mountain biker myself, I can't imagine a sport that can really replace it. The ability to get fairly far into the bush, still under your own power, and enjoy the surroundings around you is hard to beat.

I reccomend you heal up good, and then get back on er

Heh... you have to watch it Russ, I was enjoying my road biking and many broken bones until 3 consecutive knee op's sidelined me for few months. Now I'm lucky I can still get up the stairs.
I recommend more skinning and 3D work my friend!

perhaps you should consider a slightly safer sport, at least 1 week in 2?
