I can't say as I didn't play the original campaign.
This one is dramatically different because it involves building up ala a sand box game but with a series of adventures, quests, and events.
Sorry for being a bastard here, but how can you not play the campaign to your own game before releasing it?
I didn't play the GalCiv campaigns either. I don't like campaigns in general. I've never played the Starcraft campaigns even though I've heard they're good.
Well this explains a lot. Why even include it in the game if it's going to suck? You can't argue if the campaigns in your games were crap or not, seeing as you've never played them. Sorry to criticize, you're obviously a successful person. I can't quite explain it, but I've lost faith in Stardock. I don't think you're evil or anything, I just don't like the direction the company is headed. I wish you luck, but I'm probably not going to be betting any more stardock games. Btw, isn't it getting old telling people that this may not be the game for them?
I'm not sure what direction you think the company is headed. I think our actions speak pretty clearly in how serious we are about our games. We've brought in some amazing talent in the past few months to bolster our games unit. Our software unit has been enhancing our Object Desktop lineup a great deal this year as well and our enterprise group has gotten Fences on HP machines. Things seem to be heading in the right direction so I'd be curious to understand why you feel the way you do.
Just because I don't personally play campaigns in our games doesn't mean they're going to suck. I'm flattered you think my involvement on something is that critical. Boogiebac, who did the Elemental campaign, is no amateur and has many years under his belt. I'm sorry you didn't like the campaign. The campaign in Dark Avatar was done by Jeff Pinard (friend of mine from Qt3). People like campaigns. I don't.
Sorry to nerd rage on you. Like I said, it's nothing I can put my finger on. I was being much too harsh saying i wont get stardock games in the future. I didn't mean to make the guys who did the campaigns for the games feel bad. For one person doing them, they're decent (GC2s were better, and I feel Elemental's was much too short). I guess I feel that with Elemental, you could have a GREAT campaign, and it sucks to see that you don't care about it (I guess that could be argued, but the fact that you don't play them is telling). I always thought Elemental was your baby. If it's me, and I'm producing something considered my baby, I would think that I would go through everything with a fine toothed comb. But, I'm speaking from the outside, with no experience in the industry. It's really strange how I'm feeling about the games division (I dont have any other stardock software). The stuff you guys have released so far looks good, but the more I learn, the more I'm turned off. I hope when FE comes out, it is better than I expect. Right now, I'm trying not to expect anything. It's just that I keep getting this dark feeling and can't explain where it comes from.
