Increasing one's mana to cast summon fire giant?

finally learned to summon a fire giant (w00t), BUT it costs 16 mana and I only have 11. Everytime I have leveled up I have put points into intelligence which is up to 17.  Is there any other way to raise mana so I can cast the fire giant spell?

I think wisdom increases mana pool while intelligence improved the strength of spells especially those that do direct damage

It is wisdom at character creation but Essence when leveling up. If you raise your essence you will have more mana

It's essence.  Essence = Mana cap.

How do you get more essence? And i cant see if there is upkeep for spells.  If I summon a fire giant is it a once of cost? or ongoing? Or can I only cast so many ongoing spells at one time?

You can get more essence during a level-up - one of the choices.

There are also buildings that will increase essence.  I think you have to research the magic path (I can't quite recall which branch).

Also, wisdom = essence. This is because this game was not properly polished before release :(
