Need Demo ASAP and STEAM

Hey guys, still deciding on Demigod...have not yet took the plunge and bought it yet, It's a chalk between this and ARMA2 but what i wanted to say is that judging by the current state of the game and the continual beration of SD and GPG on these forums it would be wise of Stardock to get a demo out ASAP, word of mouth is the number one factor in determining sales of any product and since Demigods launch was criticised by most of the major review wesbites i believe that many gamers who originally intended to but it have been put off.

A demo right now would give the people that are still undecided (like myself) a chance to see if the gameplay really does makeup for the connection issues, crashes and abusive players that i hear so much about around here, they should also bite the bullet and release on STEAM, look at UT3...a game with decent sales on release but fell short of Epics expectations surrounding the franchise, 2 free weekends on Steam and a weekend deal saw UT3 soar in popularity and trump release sales by a large margin.

I know SD would never do this though, maybe an issue relating to their own digital download service but Steam is a client every gamer i know uses and it's populaity and maybe a deal on the title would bring in an influx of new gamers...even without the issues being fixed.

everyone who is enjoying the game is playing. forums only include fans and whiny babys, dont listen to forums ever(you might want to take this comment with a grain of salt cause I'm here and Im a fan)

And why would they release on steam when they are trying to push their own system? What does that say to the developer community? "O man, they can't get any sales on their own system?!?"

And who says they need to add it to steam? do you know well its selling?

I think it's pretty common knowledge Demigod is not selling as well as hoped and thats just by looking at the game statistics available from the main site, and yes they are trying to push their own content delivery system but it will never be as popular or as far reaching as Steam is, I'm just saying it may be wise of them to bite the bullet in this case as Steam has a proven track record of making games sucessfull long after release.

People need to realize that Stardock games won't be showing up on Steam.  They're commited to Impulse.  Only way Stardock games will be on Steam is if Impulse dies.  I'm content with 2 digital download options.  Competition is good for customers.  Will it ever be as popular as Steam, doubt it, but that doesn't mean they should just give up.

As for sales, this is from Frogboy on May 15th:

Q: How are Demigod’s sales?

A: They’re considerably better than Galactic Civilizations II’s but slightly less than Sins of a Solar Empire at the same time.  However, there are a lot of variables. Besides the online MP debacle, you have an April release versus a February release, you have a MP-centric game versus a SP-centric game (The most players I’ve ever seen online with Sins is around 500 whereas right now, mid afternoon on a Monday there’s 2065 players playing online). You also have the review difference: Sins has a review average of 88. Demigod’s average is 78 (still pretty good). If you took out the first week reviews the average jumps to 84.  Overall though, it looks like Demigod will hit 100,000 units sold before the official European release.

Well if Demigod was on Steam it would sell extremly better.

Not to mention it would be nice to have functioning friends list & chat.

p.s. If it ever apears on Steam ( and i doubt it ) i know i will buy 2nd copy of it.

ea released  battleforge  for free and if your into stratergy games i surrgest playing it  but be aware the firast patch is a killer  arround 1.7gb

demigod would be better if the community/forum  had more say instead off all the stuff that gets posted being swepted under the rug

I used to think that Stardock needs a demo quick.

But then when I look at the state of their multiplayer network now.  A demo might just scare away people.

Problems with the demo:

1. People with -1 simspeed effecting other demo players who have decent computers.  Then majority will think this game is slow as crap. No buy.

2. People downloading, sharing internet with family, bittorrent, or low upload speeds will slow down all the fast connection demo users.  Then majority will think this game is lag as crap.  No buy.

Demo users have less tolerance so they will try probably 3 games at most.   Hopefully my assumptions are wrong and I wish them good luck with the demo.

With that logic Sins of a Solar Empire needed to be on Steam and yet it's one of the best selling PC games of recent memory.

Stardock games won't be on Steam any more than Valve games are going to show up on Impulse.
