Ok I just finished my first all abundant huge galaxy. Best game I ever played. I was several orders of magnitude more powerful in every aspect than I ever have been. My score was 128,000. Considering how much ass I kicked, I was hoping for 200k or more. A tad frustrating considering how many hours I put in, but I learned a few things and I have a couple Q's.
Part of what I screwed up was maximizing my "Front end of the curve" in regard to military power. Not sure how many points this cost me, but I should have started earlier. It's hard though due to early economic woes, but my economy got so insane that I was netting 300k per turn cranking out ships like a mad man.
When you get to a point where there really isn't any techs u want, should u keep spending to get tech score? I dropped mine down a lot so i could maximize military production. I figured this would net more points.
I see that many insane scored games are on DA rather than TA. I love TA. Am I at a scoring disadvantage with this? Honestly, DA annoys me so I'd prefer to kick it TA.
And lastly, how long do you drag a game out? I see you guys that do your gigantic all abundants and mostly do 8 year games. On my huge all abundant, I ended it in 6. How do you know when to stop before it costs you more than you gain? I'm wondering if I had gone another year with my insane ship building and economy if I couldn't have scored higher. I mean, this is my best score by a factor of 2-2.5x so I should be happy, but I see these 800k-1mil games and I can't help but think I boned myself on a lot of points.
