can gold edition go past 1.5?

i have and love galciv2 gold edition but it seems to be stuck on 1.5 and i would like to patch to 1.8, but when i click on update it lists my curent version and what's available.   but according to it 1.5 is the latest version.  so can gold be patched higher than 1.5?  if so, how?

thanks garrett

The best way is to use Stardock Central. It does a pretty good job of finding the right updates and getting them installed. Worked on my gold edition anyway. Be sure and download the gold edition extras if you aren't going to buy the expansions. I've been told they are in the new ones anyway, but not sure on that.

Be sure to select DA (under 'expansions'). For DL, 1.5 is indeed the newest version, only DA is patched to 1.8

Do you in fact have DA and/or TA purchased and installed? If so, you must launch the appropriate chapter (or switch between them from the launcher program). For example, if you run GalCiv2 Gold Edition, it will only run DL stuf and as such be v1.5. If you run Dark Avatar, you will see it is a newer version (if the update is installed).

Please advise.

am i doing something wrong or missing something?

Does Stardock Central say the same thing for Dark Avatar (not the DL line)?

can you post a screenshot of SDcentral on your comp?

Note the expanded view shows DA listed separately with version number. The available column does not show a version number since it is fully updated.

Although, Gizmo, what should be highlighted in his is 'Dark Avatar (Expansion Pack) for emphasis.

ok i got it to work

i guess i was a fool for thinking the update game option was an automatic link. i didnt realize i had to go from news to my games and update with the dark avatar 1.8 link. its updated now though

its gonna be weird playing with the buffed morale improvements. itll make the early game almost too easy for me. i got in a rythm with morale and still making money(no exploits), now i wont need to worry or even think about it early. i guess it will be a different challenge. lol

thanks everybody for the help

Ohhh I see.

Ok, the Update Game option on the starter thingamabob just is a link to Stardock Central, yeah. You have to go to games.

SD Central can be configured (and is by default I believe) to automatically check for updates for installed software at startup.
