Changing Alliance Requirments

Ok. I give. I have never gotten an Alliance since I DLed 1.3a.

Could someone please tell me were the coding that decides when an Alliance is availible or were the AI calculates "Close" Relations? Much thx-yuz (x10^10^100)

In my experience, it is possible to have an alliance in version 1.31 as well, I usually have 2, or 3. In the last game, I had even 4. But it seems rather random as how to get them.
I am usually on friendly terms with all Good and Neutral Civs. I trade with all, 2 Trade Routes on each, except Thalans. I trade tech, as well as give tech to try an improve standing. Also give away ships, when Civs go to war with Evil Civs.

But it is entirely random, atleast in my case as to how and with whom I get an alliance.
The AI however seems much more apt at creating alliances than I am, and there are usually several alliance across the galaxy.

I've managed to get alliances since 1.3. Pretty much by playing like TIPedersen.

It helps to have something to offer in an alliance. IE, you'll usually need to be of equal or greater power. At least I've noticed this trend.

I haven't seen it document, but I also notice that if me and another civ are struggling against the same oppenents, that an alliance becomes more likely.

It is coded in the exe file, and it is not something that is moddable.

Theoretically, giving yourself a big diplomacy bonus should increase race's relations with you, in order to make alliances easier.

In the last game I played (with Kyro's Hull Mod which was awesome BTW!) I eventually had alliances with all races in the game, including 2 minor races, except for the Darth. I had to annihlate them for failure to conform to neutrality.

I was a neutral civ and for awhile the Torians were the bug bullies on the block. A few Influence and Diplomancy techs later they left me alone and worked on the smaller races. Then I hadded the right mix of planets and influence starbases and made Toria revolt. It was downhill for them after that. They maintained their alliance the whole time too, which I thought was amazing.

It may take a little more bribing to get the other civs to accept an alliance. Try sending 100bc to the target civ every few months/years. Not a lot, just enough to add to the trade occuring.

Has anyone achieved alliance status after they have conquered a couple of races on crippling level or higher. Most i can get to is friendly on 1.31 after doing this.

I prefer it being a lot harder to get alliances so i'm not complaining by the way.

I do get them, but generally, only after I've got a high diplomacy rating and have a stronger military. No one seems to be able to say exactly what factors make a race decide to form the close relations required. In any case, if you aren't seeing close relations at all, it's probably because your diplomacy and/or military are too weak. I haven't found anything else to have any effect. In several attempts, I've set up all my trade routes with a race and failed to see relations move to close. On top of that, I've given them ships and cash with no effect even after they said they were improving relations. This is with a much stonger military and a high diplomacy rating. My feeling is there's nothing you can do to move relations to close other than going after diplomacy techs/projects and building a strong military. And, that doesn't necessarily make it happen. It seems pretty random. Not what I would like to see, but that's just me.
