Do I have to watch ships move?

On large maps with loads of fleets, constructors and traders buzzing around with high speeds, "end turn" can take an age. But I'm not sure it's actually processing that's taking the time, but rather the fact I have to watch each and every fleet I can see do an animated move. Can I turn this animation off?

And if not, any plans for that option in the future?

Yes there is an option to turn off following autopilot ships, but you still have to wait until all the ships have stoped moving. It may not be as long but stil takes a while on such large maps.

Also, try to set your rally points in a straight line or diagonally. The turning animation is really slow. The "going in a straight line" animation is reasonably fast.
