Any way to choose racial abilities for a custom race

Without spending points

Each race has abilities built into it which don't count against their points allocation. When selecting custom race and reseting the point score, I was left with things like Soldiering +25. Is there any way to override this with unique settings of my choosing, since it seems to me that it's not really a custom race if you can't change things like that,

Not at this time. Cari_Elf programmed the custom race to have several increased bonuses as well as those that you choose. Now seen as i, like yourself, would prefer to have a 'blank slate' to start with i think maybe giving us 12 points instead of 10 would be the easier way forward. That or stating that the custom race gets 'X' bonuses.

BTW have you tried using the 'clear' button at the bottom of the screen... very interesting set of picks you get then

What you can do is spent one po your points on soldiering and the other starting abilities. This will overwrite the build in bonus. Now when you take that point away again you will have no bonus in that ability.

However... This does not give you any additional points to spent on abilities exceeding the standard ten,

But now your "diplomatic" , "researching" or "trading" race isn't *impaired* by an inexplicable desire for mayhem and destruction.

I was comparing the Drath and Terrans the other day and it seems the Drath have everything the Terrans have, and more. Is that right??

Looking at a few different items that are about i would agree. The best race to play is a customised Drath ot Yor, based on the bonuses and starting picks.
