Boot skin disfunctional with service pack2

I dont know if this has been brought up, but accroding to microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=884130) bootskins will not work with spk2. Is there any kind of fix for this? The fact that spk2 cripples most of my apps is the only reason I have not downloaded it.

Just do a search for Bootskin here on the messageboards. There are tons of threads about it, and the general consensus is that it will not work ON THE FIRST REBOOT. After that, it works fine.

Your link didn't work for me, but MS does not  say BootSKin will not work with SP2......

SYMPTOMS
When you upgrade your computer to Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), when you restart your computer during the installation, the computer stops unexpectedly and you receive the following error message:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer...
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x00000050 (0x905108010, 0x00000000, 0x80509443, 0x00000000)
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Note The four parameters in this error message may vary, depending on the cause of the Stop error.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if you use the BootSkin program from Stardock Corporation. The BootSkin program changes the appearance of the Microsoft Windows XP startup screen by using a startup screen driver. This driver may not load correctly during the installation of Windows XP SP2 when the computer first restarts. If you turn off the BootSkin program before you install Windows XP SP2, you can turn the program back on after you install Windows XP SP2.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, turn off BootSkin before you install Windows XP Service Pack 2. For more information about how to turn off BootSkin, visit the following Stardock support Web site:
