Background, I've used various Object Desktop licenses over the years - and have two active OD classic subscriptions based on the number of computers I have and under UKGI accessibility needs assessment.
It now appears despite saying I can access the software up to 5 computers per license that I am now reduced to three per license. It is now counting individual software installs on the same machine as different licenses so showing me as over activated on both.
One is showing me as of now:
16 current activations out of 5 total
The other one is showing me as of now:
7 current activations out of 5 total
I use the software to use themes without blue - I am very sensitive to blue light and don't see Blue too well even through a filter so I only use Red themes provided through stardock.
Another issue is that when I renewed recently is now I have two active automatic renewal subscriptions- of which I promptly cancelled but now fastspring is showing my card info- and the deletion button isn't working so I can't remove the card details. Despite being weird when I did not request it to save my details and the second time I renewed my OD subscription it never mentioned during the renewal process of capturing my card details for later use into next year.
Now when I activate its automatically going onto subscription- since I cancelled the automated renewal its automatically disabling my ability to install and license the software- despite my classic subscription being there and valid on both showing 2024 as an expiry.
Beyond frustrated with this, if there was a decent filter that removed blue on Windows I would use that. The default Windows bluelight filter doesn't help me as I just see black on any shade of blue and causes impaired eyesight.
If Stardock is going to force the new subscription model they could have informed in advance, luckily enough I could get my company to pay the software under accessibility needs assessment but the way this switchover has been handled isn't filling me with a lot of confidence.
I did go through Stardock support and they refunded me based on how it works now (have to revew each OD classic sub separately) but it still activates the subscription, captures my card details, and then adds the activation weirdness.
Unless stardock is now saying you can activate as many computers as you like under the new subscription (I don't know- I had a look, apparently still at 5) I don't understand the benefit of the new subscription model apart from annoying customers.
Anyone know whats going on with this forced model?
